Cub Scout Pack 1483 is conducting Scouting for Food on Saturday, November 10. The Scouts will be attaching a grocery bag to the front doorknob of each single-family home in Broadlands beginning on Saturday, November 3, and will be back to collect your donations on the 10th some time between 9 and 11:30 am.

Our mission is to collect food items on behalf of the Community Holiday Coalition to be given to local families in need of a wholesome holiday dinner.

Please consider donating canned and packaged foods for a holiday dinner (no perishable, frozen, or glass containers). You can just leave the bag outside your front door by 9am on Saturday November 10.

If you do not receive a bag, you can still donate by dropping off items directly at Hillside Elementary's parking lot, on November 10 between 10am and noon.

Scouting for Food is Pack 1483's annual "Good Turn" Scouting service project. Thank you for your support!

    Suggested Items:
Tea, Coffee, Canned Juices, Evaporated Milk
    Soup
    Breakfast Foods (cereal, oatmeal)
    Canned Fruits & Vegetables
    Canned Yams
    Boxed Mashed Potato Mix
    Canned Gravy
    Cranberry Sauce
Tomato Products (canned spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes)
    Stuffing Mix
    Pasta
    Cake Mix & Frosting
Pumpkin Pie Filling, Other Canned Pie Fillings & Boxed Pie Crust Mix
    Boxed Whipped Toppings (for pie)
    Peanut Butter & Jelly

Please...No perishable or frozen items or glass containers!

It's Scouting for Food Day! If you received a bag on your door this week please put your donations on your front step as early as possible to make sure the scouts find it when they come by. A lot of the scouts started at 9:00. Many of them will drive by around noon to make sure they didn't miss anything, but if your bag didn't get picked up, you can bring it to Hillside's parking lot by noon.

If you did not receive a bag, you can drop off donations at Hillside too.

Thanks everyone - Broadlands has always been extraordinarily generous in this campaign to help the local needy, and your contributions are much appreciated!

They just came by. My girls liked watching for them at the window. Sad though, as I looked down the street I was the only house with food out :( I'm sure that they just forgot - I'll remind them about Hillside.

I was out walking my dog this morning and forgot to put my bag out, realized that when I saw scouts on other streets ... luckily the scouts were on my street just as I came home so I was able to flag them down and run inside for the bag. I was willing to go to Hillside if necessary though! Thanks to all scouts out there (and their parents!) who are doing this good deed today.
