Someone taught me the basics of knitting a few months ago...almost done with the baby blanket for our son.

So since I just picked up this hobby and I am wondering if there are any knitters out there...if so would you like to get together and start a stich & b%cth group?

There are knitting guilds and knitting groups that I can direct you to if interested. If you check out under the thread entitled "General Chat..." my post called "Crafty Critters..." dated 12/08/06--you will find a Resource List of all types of Crafty Groups (i.e. quilting, knitting, sewing, and other domestic arts groups/guilds).

Also, check out the Sewing Diva in "old-town" Ashburn for knitting and other sewing/quilting classes.

    www.thesewingdiva.net (The Sewing Diva's site/info.)

Just PM me or ask under this post here. I also knit and can give you some "pointers" not just with my "knitter's needles" (ha-ha--sorry for the bad pun!):pofl::happygrin: Seriously, check out the Loudoun County Libraries also. I believe that Ashburn and Sterling Libraries have knitting groups.

    Have a good night--

    Erika,
I just picked up knitting myself this August. I took several classes at the Sewing Diva from Sandee and it was a lot of fun! There was only me at the last two classes. I would love to get a stitch and b?#%ch group going. Last Tuesday night I went to the Ashburn Library to meet up with the knitting group there. The library posted it as a group for 12-18 yr olds but the teacher said I could hang out (unforturnatley I had my three kids with me and they were way too noisy for me to stay). Anyway, I gave her my name and phone number hoping she knew of other knitters in the area who wanted to get together.

Send me a message back if you want to meet up!

    Peg

I'd love to join a stitch and b?#%ch group. Have been knitting for years but somehow don't seem to find time to do it now. Also have a friend who would like to join (because she wants to learn to knit). We were going to go to the library group as well but found out it was for 12-18 year olds. Thought it was a good idea that they knit items to donate.
Let me know if you find somewhere to meet up - Nature Center would be cozy.

I think it would be great to knit baby blankets (or other items) to donate...I'll check with the nature center...if not we can always default to our house...

...is there a day of the week that it is best?

I know that there are a bunch of charities for knitters. A lot of them are for knitted caps. I think that would be a great thing to do. Count me in.

Would you all mind taking on a novice knitter? I learned years ago so I think I could pick it up pretty quickly but would need some direction.

    Lets get a group started!

Hi all knitters! I met a really nice, experienced knitter living 5 doors down from me this afternoon. We plan to meet at Panera Bread the first Sunday afternoon of each month from 3-5 pm. (January 6th will be our first meeting) If anyone wants to join us and talk about getting a group started, please join us. I am up for meeting at the nature center as well. We figured Sunday afternoons would get a good turn out however, I am up for other dates/times. Hope to see you all there!

I'd love to come too! I haven't been in a knitting group since I left NYC and the NYC Ktog.

    Erika,

There is a loady in my book club who invited me to a stitch and @#! but I do not have knotting talent so I said thank you, but no. I can tell her your info if you like, she lives a few streets down from us past Mill Run.
