I have a tonne of knick-knackery from Ma's place that I have no room/use for. However, being the greedy guy I am I want to sell it off rather than donate it. I know that T8 will pay top dollar for a lovely pair of Antique Victorian Manlte Lustres. Or, perhaps someone is interested in a very good condition programme from Mae West's "Diamond Lil" performance circa 1947.

Anyway - has anyone delt with Snappy Auctions? If so, what are your impressions? Or should I simply suck it up and auction them myself?:eww:

    Any feedback is appreciated.

I believe Snappy will take quite a chunk of your selling price for themselves and they prefer (require?) items that will sell for at least $50. You may want to check with them to be sure but this is what a friend of mine found out a while back. A plus to using Snappy is that they deal with all the packing & shipping which can be a pain.

    I'd sell it yourself.

I'll set up a website with the stuff & post it here as it seems my PayPal account has gone "bang" and it will take a while to fix.

We used Snappy a couple of times for some larger items and while they are extremely pleasant and do a very good job with the posting, they do take a hefty chunk of the final sale price. Use them for the bulky stuff you don't want to deal with.

Re: Snappy Auctions AKA Cr@!ppy Auctions!

First let me preface my comments by letting you know that I have been selling on ebay since 1999. I have sold thousands of dollars of items.

    Now, my story:

A couple of months ago I had a totally unused massage table ($400 new) that I wanted to sell on ebay. Normally, I would just do it myself. But this time since it was so large (and I was feeling lazy), I would give Snappy Auctions a try. BIG MISTAKE!

When I initially went in and spoke with the owner (and her son??) it was clear they really weren't that familiar with ebay. After a bit of fumbling and futzing around, we came up with a price.

Now we signed the contract where they take 35% right off the top. But hey, it was heavy and I wanted to get rid of it.

So, I give them a complete description of the table so they could accurately list it. I was QUITE surprised to see the listing they made. It didn't appear to have the details I gave them. It took them a few days to come up with a worse description than I handed them. This wasn't the biggest kicker.

Image my surprise when they list in bold letters that the table had DAMAGE! Included were pictures of obvious scraping/ripping in the corner of the table. The damage was done while the table was in there possession! They didn't even tell me, they just listed it. Probably was caused by dragging the table along there concrete floor. They took no responsibility for the damage and I ended up getting far less for the table than if I just did it myself. I did email there corporate/franchise office and got no response.

If you want to use them, be sure to do it before they go out of business this year.

So, if you can do it on your own, I highly recommend you stay away from Snappy.

I had been considering using them until I saw their feedback on Ebay. They left very rude/nasty feedback for those who did not give them good rating.

    Side note/gripe.

Feedback is abused by a lot of people on ebay...mostly sellers refusing to leave you positive feedback until you've done the same. The way I see it, if you pay a seller what they're owed and in a timely manner, your job as a buyer is done and the seller should immediately leave positive feedback for you. If you pay, the seller sends you crap and you complain, 90% of the time they'll leave you negative feedback for being 'difficult'. I leave positive feedback as soon as I get payment for an item I've sold. :) Anyhow...sorry, venting.

Well, I have been successfully e-Baying the items myself and the experience has not been too bad. The key, I think, is that I seeded a Pay-Pal with some cash and linked into a UPS account. So, I can box & label everything at home then hand the boxes to the UPS guy when he comes by work. Mind you - I've sold nothing huge - it's all been figurenes and such.

I'm not too impressed with Snappy's payment to me of an item I had them sell. I got an email on Jan 1 letting me know that the item sold. The email stated that Snappy Auctions would mail the check on Jan 16. On Monday, I had not yet received my check so I looked at their status page, which did not have knowledge of my item. After calling Snappy of Ashburn, they told me that there was a problem with checks to be mailed on Jan 16 and that the checks were actually sent on Jan 23. As of today, still no check.
