    Does anyone know when the National Weather Service will be updating the Winter Storm Watch issued at 6:50 this morning? I have an interview candidate flying in tonight for an interview tomorrow (downtown) and we were going to wait for the next update before making a decision whether he should push his trip back or not. Usually with an alert like this one they will update it very 5 hours or less, but it's now been 6 hours. All the other weather outlets (TV and News, even WTOP) usually wait for the updated Weather Service model/forecast before deciding on theirs.

    Not that everything is all about me, but the snow/ice days always seem to happen on the days my child goes to preschool. And then, of course, she doesn't have school and I miss my morning coffee out with the gals.
    :thumbsdown:

    Gee, life is awfully rough, huh? ;)

    I feel your pain. My daughter is supposed to have her 6th birthday party tomorrow evening and it's looking like it's going to have to be rescheduled. Ugh, I dread breaking the news to her....:bawling:

    It could be worse.. you could be 5,000 miles away and trying to get home.. and not knowing if you are going to be stuck in an airport for who knows how long because the flight is nearly 10hrs long and who knows what they are going to do :) But that's what I have to deal with in a few hours :)

    Yikes! Are you stuck in the Heathrow goof? I would not wish that on anyone!

    Computer glitch disrupts flights at Heathrow

    Personally, I am hoping for a little bad weather for us in this next storm. We've had a gentle winter for the most part.

    T8erman--

    One word Priceless--:bow::pofl:.

    Anyway when we were growing in the "good old South"--schools and local government "powers" would close down schools, etc, with the "slightest hint of ice storms, sleet, or snow". Apparently, people in the South did not know how to drive either!

    Of course, more equipment and trucks have helped make driving easier supposedly--right?;)

    Just take it "slow and easy" is our advice--:happygrin:

    Have a good night at Happy Hour--cheers--"y'all"--;)

    Southerners do not get much practice!

    But the main reason schools close is that most of "the south" does not budget for snow or ice. It is a rare, rare event indeed when most of the south gets 2 days in a row of constant 32 degree weather.

    We loved living in Chattanooga (great little city), Gwinnett County GA and North Carolina. We also lived in Green Bay for several years. I defy any northerner who claims to be able to drive in winter weather to drive in the south during an ice storm.

    It isn't the drivers. It's the condition of the road, which is directly impacted by the plowing and type of weather. We NEVER had a problem in Green Bay. It's not because they are better drivers up there. It's simply because it was always a dry snow and they were equipped for it.
