Over the last couple of days, my modem keeps dropping my connection. If I shut it off and back on, it re-connects. Any ideas?

First check the cables - are they tight? Freyed? Lay your hand on the modem - is it hotter than you think is normal? Does it have an external Power supply? Is IT hotter than you think normal? How old is the modem?

everything seems ok...nothing out of the ordinary. Modem is a maybe 1.5 yrs old. Just started in the last couple days. DS stays steady, US starts to blink.

If you are on Comcast, I have no doubt they are goofing around with provisioning. I had the same issue going on over the last few weeks and finally everything went, no connection at all. I was not home when the technician came out but he basically said that my signal was weak. This was after saying that my coax from the wall was bad (which it wasn't). They ran a new cable through my backyard and to the street box and all seems well know, but my guess is that whatever segment I was on was over provisioned.

To make sure it's not the modem itself you could just go to old red rum drive and exchange it (again if you are Comcast).
