What about the people whose health insurance doesn't include this new hospital anyway?????

I think this needs to be more clearly defined. The agreement should be to not post on any thread on the forums.

Wow... as it is we hear several helicopters a day in this neighborhood. Not to mention a dozen or so 747s. :rolleyes3: And I suspect the folks who live closest to this site have plenty of noise coming off the Greenway as well. I just don't see that potential noise is such a huge part of the equation.

But Lee, almost all of the nonsense was your creation.

So now I am a trouble maker for simply pointing out something you missed.

Guess it is my fault too that you couldn't re-read the post to make sure before posting. But hey, we are all guilty of that.

Read more of Lee's posts, that will prepare you for ill-written posts.

Oh, and sorry if I spoiled an invalid point you may have been trying to make. :D

I don't hear the Greenway and I spent my freshman year of college across the street from a heliport and, believe me, a helicopter landing and taking off is loud and can happen throughout the night.

Part of the 'equation' includes the affect of the hospital on those closest to it, you may not put much weight on that portion, I know that is HCA's current strategy. To create a backlash to NIMBY, where those being affected should just take it for the team. Because if the hospital is built, the same line of thought will be behind HCA when they petition a new board 5 or 10 years later for a helipad or to expand the hospital.

When I moved to Ashburn, 17 years ago, I had no children. Since that time, I have had 3 children. One has special needs.

I hope that I get a good grade on this post. As you can see I used the correct punctuation. I hope my sentence structure was acceptable.

This is only number 347 on the list of why you are a trouble-maker. :devil2:

The original DIDN'T include pediatrics or obstetrics. So, it seems strange you would move here for a hospital that wasn't designed to treat children.

…at that time we did not have children.

FWIW - when we moved here in Nov '04 I was battling cancer (from Dec 03 to July 07)) and was traveling to NIH, Gtown and FFX – until my oncologist was granted privileges at Reston – which in my experience has a great oncology dept and chemo/radiation staff.

Our son (whom we adopted from Korea, was born 10 weeks early w/ a Peyton PDA) arrived home less than 5 weeks ago which caused us to re-examine the medical treatment in the county.

It seems strange that you and others continue to question the veracity of people's motives (ei healthcare) of why "we" moved into Broadlands –

...posters like you, Mr. Rodgers aka PGAmike Flynn etc - you all sure make for such a friendly and caring neighborhood or at the least now have a special place on my ignore list. :screwy:

:angryfire:I am now done posting on this website. I congratulate you Pea, for "outing" me. I considered this to be a place to where I could freely make statements without the potential for repercussions affecting m my career in the hospitality industry. I had a conversation (IRL) with one of the administrators about me changing my name. In case you didn't notice, my previous ID makes it pretty dang clear to most people what I do for a living, and what my first name is. As my posts became more controversial, I abandoned my earlier ID, and created a new one. I came here to have fun, but now that it could effect my livelihood, I cannot afford this type of fun.
Previously, Pea, you have attacked my character and later apologized. Now you have crossed a line that an apology cannot erase.
I am sorry that it aggravates you that the nearest 2 hospitals are less than 15 minutes away. But it is the truth! 1 HCA and 1 Inova.

There are those who understand how to fight fair, and realize when they have been caught in an illogical argument. Then there are those that when caught, lash out without thought. (Note: It is illogical to say, "I moved here 17 years ago because of a hospital that wasn't even thought of until 7 years ago, and it still may not be built. If it is built, it is still 4-5 years away from completion. So I moved here 22 years before the prospective hospital could be built, to provide care to a child that I did not have at the time." I am not denying that it will be convenient for this family to have a hospital 4 minutes away. The arguments presented by the "pro-hospital" group have lacked any substantial and are merely anecdotal.

Anyway, you win! I hope that you enjoy the debate with only one side of the picture being argued. This will be my last post on the HOA Board!

Invalid point? I found the post confusing yet you had to imply that it should have been straight forward. Your tone and snottiness came through loud and clear. And your rebuttal came through the same way. Snotty! I asked for clarification and for some reason you (not the poster) felt you had straighten me out? Does it make you feel good about yourself?

everyone wants to argue. i said that i have lived here 17 years. didn't have children then. now i do. i bought my house backing to broadlands blvd within the last 5 years. ped care was included in the hospital plans then. (OB care isn't important for me as we are NOT having any more children. i am sure it is important for many others. dont know what that had to do with my post)
sorry i don't use caps and type like i talk.

Ok, folks, time for EVERYONE TO TAKE A DEEP BREATH. Discussions are getting very heated in the last 24 hours and they're heading down a path that we, as moderators, would rather it not go.

So please, remain civil, take a deep breath, and try to have some constructive discussions.

    Thank you.
