LOL at all the comments! Personally, I love it and I hope they update the other one on Claiborne that now looks so dated....

I kind of like it. I like the big leaf on it. It will probably grow on us.

I think it needs to be so big so that when they add on the four foot high letters that spell out "a Van Metre Development" they won't look out of place.

I have a feeling the sign will have footlights on it at night time and water will bubble below it. It does seem to PRONOUNCE that broadlands is maybe more Hoity Toity than it is. Kind of like "Look at me!!!"

When it comes to their advertising, NOTHING is too tacky or ugly for Van Metre!

Exhibit B: The new giant red-and-white sign on Claiborne in front of the model homes!

There is planned to be an office building in the corner lot where the freakin' huge sign is ("We have three sizes: wee, not so wee, an' FREAKIN' HUGE!!"). Not sure what this adds to the conversation, but just pointing it out.

As Brassy pointed out - if you stand right in front of the sign, and look straight ahead, you are NOT looking at Broadlands.

Actually Van Metre is going to develop commercial behind the sign and right across Ryan road from the sign and between toll road. I think that sign has said Van Metre is never going to relinquish control of the Broadlands HOA as long as they have one piece of property left. ;) Cliff you may have 10 or 15 more years to wait.

If you are looking straight at the sign, you are definitely looking at Broadlands. Check out the attached picture. The entire red outlined parcel is Broadlands. The yellow block is my approximation of where the sign is (at the corner of Old Ryan Rd and Ashburn Village/Mooreview).

Technically, I think that's true, but the houses currently on that side of Mooreview don't belong to Broadlands. The sign gives the impression that if you drive up Old Ryan Rd. that you are in Broadlands. If they had put it on the opposite side of Mooreview it would make more sense at the current time.

It seems like they got the scale off, it is way too big. And that leaf is really huge and looks horrible. I think if they removed the leaf, it would be a bit less tacky.
