My stance is congruent with that of the current board. As long as the business is operating in agreement with all local requirements, and the board has approved, they should be allowed to proceed.

Additionally, the stance from the current board is that as long as people are working on receiving licensing, etc that they should not be penalized from being allowed to proceed.

Cliff-Please correct any errors here. My above referenced stance of the current board is based directly upon information I heard at the most recent board meeting.

You are correct. The Board deferred making any decision/changes until the June meeting.

At the latest HOA meeting, someone brought up that several residents on
Fern Brook Court have seen children from your home day care business wondering/playing in the court unsupervised. Also mentioned at that meeting was parents were speeding to pick up and drop off their children from your day care business. This issue of speeding in the neighborhood has also been talked about a lot on this forum as well.
Since you mentioned child safety as one of the things that you want to preserve in the neighborhood, what changes do you plan to make in your own business? Also what ideas do you have for the Broadlands Community in general that would improve child safety?

Mr. Baker states "he is concerned about the increased traffic that would come into our neighborhood with a new hospital". With that being said, one would think he would be concerned about his neighbors concerns about increased traffic on Fern Brook Court due to the Child daycare program that his wife operates.

People I think have this territorial instincts like wild animals. They don't like strangers driving down their streets. Yeah..yeah I know. It's a culdesac and you bought a house there because of it having less traffic.

    SportsFan-

Thanks for your concern. I'll try to keep this brief to keep the thread consistent with its original intent-

Our preschool children remain under direct supervision. That will continue to be the case always.

Traffic is hard to control unless you are a law enforcement officer, but we have adopted a program that encourages our parents to continue driving safely. It's not as though the road becomes a raceway when it's time for class. We have been notified of two different drivers who were driving too fast, and we spoke to them both immediately. On a separate note, neither of these two are still enrolled in our program.

Community-wide, I'd like to speak with VDOT to get more speed limit signs, children playing signs, etc. Also, I'd like to speak with the sheriff's office to get patrol cars through the neighborhood to monitor speed and traffic laws. I hope no one decides to start complaining when they receive a citation in their own neighborhood...
