My outdoor table and 4 chairs were stolen from my backyard this afternoon. Granted, it was not locked up in any way nor is my backyard fenced. Ironically, I believe I saw the culprit with my furniture on Claiborne Pkwy. at the intersection of Ashburn Farm Pkwy. I passed him and thought "gee, that sure looks like my table & chairs hmmm..." It was a flat bed white pick up truck driven by one man. Didn't get a look at him or the license plate but I've reported it to the police. I live on Falling Rock Terrace in the Miller & Smith townhouses near on Clairborne near Broadlands Blvd. FYI - everyone secure your items in the backyard!

WOW! I just can't believe someone did that in the daytime. My neighbor has been having a lot of work done on her house and I've been keeping an eye out for her. If she doesn't tell me to expect someone at her house I call her at work.

Sorry this happened. I hope the catch the guy!

Glmgmartin, I live on Autumnwood, right next to you; does your yard face Claiborne or the other side? I'm just wondering if the individual stopped on Claiborne or if he actually went through the neighborhood...

I'll make sure Staci (Neighborhood Watch) is informed as well...

Our yard faces Claiborne BUT there is no way of seeing the table from there because of the the tree growth and slight hill. Our house is the deck with the temporary gazebo on it that you can see from Claiborne. There is another piece of furniture still here (a round bed-like lounge) that I guess was too big for him to carry.

That's amazing considering how close the houses are around here. That guy has some balls.

Just a thought, but is it possible your furniture was blown out of your yard, closer to Claiborne? (Still no excuse for someone to haul it away) I'm only saying this because we came home yesterday to find our umbrella that we though was securely fastened to our deck furniture, blown off the deck and across the yard. There were some pretty hefty wind gusts that came through Sunday night that I'm guessing did the damage. Needless to say our $400 umbrella is now scrap metal.

I really hope they catch this thief. At least you got a description of the truck. He'll probably be back for more so everyone should be on the lookout.

I wish they had just blown over, but there's no way - I was only gone about an hour and the winds were not very strong at that time. Plus they were pretty heavy, especially the table. It's discouraging to think that there are burglers who would be so blatant but I'm afraid that is the case.

That's amazing. When you called the police, did they mention if something like this was happening a lot in the surrounding area?

As part of the Neighborhood watch I get updates from the Sheriff's office when these things start going on. I have not heard about it happening any where else as of yet but I will keep on top of it. I have notified our security agency and they are keeping an eye out for anything suspicious activity in the community.
I will be sure to post anything if I get it
Please keep letting me know of anything that is going on so I can keep track of time/place etc to report to our sheriff liaison and security.

Thanks for letting us know. I have a lot of unsecured items in my fenceless backyard. I can't believe that happened.
