I don't buy the 15' easement either. It has been a while since I looked at my plat but as I recall it ends at the sidewalk for me. I'm on a corner and the easement on the front of my house extends up to the driveway apron and along the side the utilities are all under the sidewalk for the exception of the run to the house. So the easement in the front extend further into the lot than along the side.

They started digging up in Overland Park but then disappeared. It seems as if they only did one or two streets. :angryfire:
Does anyone of you have a plan on what streets they are working on and what's next?

I would love to know. Unfortunately - I don't think anyone knows because no one has responded.

We moved into the area this Friday and are opting to go without Cable because we have such a distaste for Comcast. UGH!

We got Fios yesterday and it rocks!! Definitely get it when you get the opportunity. Also, we were never notified when it was available for us--I just happened to stumble upon it while logged into my account online. So, just keep checking--I'm pretty sure it'll be available to Broadlands soon. They started digging in our neighborhood only a week or two before they started in Broadlands.

The Verizon guy working on Vestals Gap near Chickacoan just said FIOS will be ready in 30 days.

I just moved into the area a week ago, so I can't say that I know where chickacoan is ..... but I do live right off of Vestals Gap. I think I can handle going without cable for a month or two if verizon will be available that quickly!

Confirm with Comcast, but I don't believe they have contracts, so you can try Comcast for a few months and then switch to FIOS when available.

Comcast does NOT have contracts...we, too, are waiting for FIOS, we live off of Vestals Gap. In the meantime, Comcast has been good in the interim, expensive, but reliable!

Actually, Comcast in Loudoun will try and lock you into a contract by offering a fixed price agreement as part of a triple play promotion for two years. But you don't have to sign it. To terminate the contract you would pay ~$150. Just sign up for Comcast but refuse the contract and you will be month-to-month with no commitment.

We've been with Comcast from the very beginning right from Adelphia....never had pressure to sign any contract EVER...so maybe this is what they're doing with new customers.

Its just for the triple play stuff. They are trying to offset intro prices by getting contracts from customers. I think actually there are laws preventing them requiring contracts for regular service.

That makes sense then since we don't have triple play.....just internet and TV

We've had problems with Comcast in the past and they are just so freaking expensive that we didn't want to delve into that again. Plus - we had FIOS at our former place of residence and fell in love with it! Haha

You would think that if it is accessible in Leesburg and Sterling - then it would be available in Ashburn.

I totally agree with you on Comcast being expensive! That's our main beef!!! But we're willing to wait it out for FIOS....can't get here soon enough....been waiting a long time.

Latest 'public' update from Verizon regarding the FiOS rollout in our area for the months of May and June 2008 can be found at:

    http://www22.verizon.com/about/community/va/files/VAFTTPMayJune08.pdf

Of note are the many streets that can be found in the list that are located in Broadlands and are considered 'end-nodes', such as Arundell Ct, etc.

If anyone here lives on Arundell Ct., have you gotten any communications from Verizon about the possible availability of FiOS at your residence in the near future?

So - If all the streets around us are listed .... but not ours - I'm SOL?

shouldn't we change the name of this thread? "no FiOS in 2006, or 2007, maybe in 2008?"

    ;)

    it's been a long wait.
