    lol hear hear! )

lee your posts DO have a message with good intentions, you just happen to brow beat the board with it, interect it into post about everything from breakfast cereal to cockatiels, and give a diatribe almost EVERY TIME that reads almost exactly like the other 100 diatribes.

i vote we give lee a 40 word max on posts, and a 6 smiley limit... lol admins! make it so! ;)

    love ya lee...

No way, actually the complete opposite! I am sorry if you misread the spirit of the post--I was choosing to control what I can control, and to celebrate Lee's ability to dominate any thread by the largeness of his spirit. And I meant that. We're all about celebrating positives :)

That's why I said that in the spirit of magnanimity. Lee brings a completely unique perspective to everything he says and so I choose to celebrate it!

Lee, you are very funny (but unfortunately wrong in your assumptions!). Did you know something that I discovered recently that you and Gryphon will appreciate?

In the work we do with kids, we try to get to the underlying root of the issues. Many of our kids get stuck on a certain point and repeat it obsessively (sound familiar, my friend?!). This originates in the Anterior Cingulate Gyrus portion of the brain--it is all tied together. The good part of this is that you can do something about this, and it is completely liberating. So the next time we have a Workshop here locally, I want you to be my guest!

Thanks for making Broadlands a great place to live, Lee!

This thread started out with such potential, and now once again, drivel...

Thanks Lee, for making my volunteer work on these forums so much less enjoyable on a daily basis...

I have lived here for eight and a half years and have never wanted to move. My family and I also enjoy Broadlands immensely. It has everything we want. Good housing, great amenities, beauty, lots of activities, good people, lots of kids for my kids to play with, great HOA committee and volunteers, local shops, great restaurants......the only thing I can say bad about Broadlands is the drivers, but I think most communities in NOVA have that issue as well.
Good topic, we should take time to acknowledge those who take so much time from their lives to enhance our own. I think we take it for granted what we do have here.

We will most likely move when our last kid leaves HS in 4 years. Next up? a smaller community where everyone knows you and we can have a REAL open door policy, etc.

That would be worse then being a builder. :devil2: Besides it I don't live in the broadlands and it is too much fun watching Cliff and his gang work around Van Metre :devil2:
I my business I have to deal with HOA's all the time and at times even tho they say their personal opinions don't influence their decisions, it is hard not to.

My worse experience was a new historical district out by Hollywood CA. THe Northridge earthquake made my friends home unsafe. Well it took over a year to convince this HOA and Historical committee which were one in the same and the same people that the home had to be torn down 5 engineers later. Then I designed a new home for my friends that blended into the neighborhood beautifully after another 6 months without any approval my client friends took their case to the City Of Los Angeles which had jusrisdiction over this new historical district. We had a meeting with TV cameras my clients the city of Los Angeles and of course these HOA Historical people were there too. It ended up to be a swift and quick meeting when this housewife woman who was president of this committee with zero design credentials blurted out right in the beginnig that she could not approve my design because she did not want my clients to have the nicest home in the district. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha The city of Los Angeles approved the home right then and there. :pofl:

ANyway there are some new rules the state of Virginia is going to implement over HOA's in the near future. Basically there is going to be a thrid party independent appeal system when home owners are unhappy with the decisions made by the HOA's. THeir is also going to be a way that a homeoner can recoup their legal fees from the HOA if they win the appeal and had to hire an attorney. Could change the way HOA's are run in the future with this third party appeal system.
