Okay, I got in my car the other day and the stereo was dead, no power to it. My auto guy said that it was not fuse (he took it out and tried to reset the system and also replaced the fuse). I went to Best Buy and found a decent CD/Sat. ready Alpine. But by the time they added the XM tuner, antenna, harnesses, and other equipment the install cost - all amounted to the cost of the radio I was looking to install.

So any advice? Any luck going else where?

    hberg and others--

My hubby uses this forum for car "guy" info. Has info on the boards for car audio installation, I believe. Check it out. Even though BMW forum you can post car audio installations maybe on their forum for recommendations.

Go to http://www.crutchfield.comYou will probably find what you are looking for, and most times they can send you a free install kit for you to do it yourself.

What kinda car do you have. It's not too hard to do installs on most cars. You can get the adapters for the radio to your cars existing harness from crutchfield. It would just be a matter of swapping head units and maybe a little bezel adjustment / modification.

Myer Emco in Sterling (by Shoppers) or Sound Solutions in Chantilly (in the old shopping center across from Costco).

They might specialize in more advanced stuff but they've been trustworthy.
