Honda Odyssey Owners- I have a ?

The question is: at 202 inches long how well does the van fit into the garage? DOes it leave enough space to walk around in front, or does it come a bit into the stair area?

 

We have a Sinclair 2 built before the model so we didn't have the 8" shaved off the whole house!in our garage we have about 3-4 feet used to hold all the usual thing, like receyle boxes, a lawnmower,etc. Then our steps come out of the right side of the garage, usually my Volvo V70 Wagon noses about 7 inches past them and is maybe 3 inches form the garage door, but nothing is in front so we can walk around it just fine.

 

do what i do- drive fwd til you feel a BUMP, then try to close the garage. if the door hits the car, it is too long for the garage. if not, you can back up a bit, and put a big X on the wall so you know when to stop! hee hee...

that's only PARTIALLY a joke...

We have a Honda Odyssey and a two car garage and both our cars fit fine, however, we can't walk around the front of the Odyssey. It's parked on the left and hubby has a work bench in front. Our other car is a Honda CRV and it fits in fine and we have room in front to get into the house.

 

I have a Honda Odyssey and it fits fine in the garage (we park it on the left). We can get around the front when the garage door is closed, but we don't have anything in front of the van in the garage though.

 

I have a license plate imprint in my garage drywall but the van does fit It's just timing the stop! I'm in one of the Southern Walk towns & it's a tight fit lengthwise but you can squeeze either in front or behind the van.

 

We also have one of those "thingies" - don't know what they're called....you have to set it up (someone adjusts while you're driving in the garage) and it goes on the garage floor and when your tires go over it, then you stop. It works pretty good, but you do have to keep adjusting it.

 

Back when I had my tiny Van Metre garage I hung a tennis ball from a string from the garage door opener housing and adjusted it so that you would stop when it bumped your windshield. Worked like a champ, and free!

I have been using these for about a year now. They work really well and make it so you don't have to dodge the tennis balls in the garage LOL

I've seen higher end ones made of metal which also do the trick too.

 

Thanks all, currently we have one of those red light beam things. Kaos installed after i had already marked my stop on the garage wall in pencil, and honestly I still mostly go by that as it gives me more space in front of the car!

While we have solved the issue of packing the car by having the new burrito for the top of the car, what it hasn't solved is the room needed for the taller members of the family...kind of feel like we are in a tight fitting glove or cockpit! I had the first generation of the Odyssey when the kids were very little. Yep a teensy 4 cylinder engine that tried to go up the hills very slowly in the Adirondacks of NY, and no sliding door...and it was WHITE!!! Not my choice, it was a dealer demo and cheap at the time.

I love my sporty V70 as it doesn't scream mom! But trying to find a decent car with ULEV-II that will fit us is something else! We know we can still utilize the burrito and perhaps the cross bars too...but it will soon be time to sell the 2001 V70. Leg room please!!!

 

Hey Brassy - my 3 bros range from 6' 6" to 6' 11" - my sister is 6' and they have/can fit with plenty of head and leg room in our Murano.

FWIW - we can get the "family" price from nissan - saving us $6500 off the car.
