    Hi,

I just wanted to send a warning, a young guy stopped by my house to sell me Insect Control services. He gave me a very bad feeling and would not take no for an answer. I also saw that he was trying to peek through my front door. I didnt get the name of his company.

During summer, I know most of us leave our garage doors open and this is a very safe neiborhood. I just wanted all of us to be aware as I this guy seemed a bit shifty.

    Thanks!

PS- I live in the "overlook" part of the broadlands.

I ALWAYS call out the LCSO for the door to door sales people. That gives them a chance to check them out, take down names, etc. and make sure they are registered with the county.

There are a lot of sales people around (magazine sales, etc), that the companies get from the random inner cities (Chicago, Detroit), will put them up 5 to a room in PG county, then bring them into neighborhoods like ours in van fulls. They get dropped off and left for several hours. I've engaged quite a few of them over the years (while I'm awaiting the LCSO to respond). It's quite sad, actually. Lots of these are kids who don't have perfect pasts. They get totally exploited. But we also run the risk of having not-so-reformed people dropped in our neighborhoods.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

We had some rather belligerent door to door salesmen this afternoon. They were marketing cleaning supplies and when my husband told them he wasn't interested one of the guys started to mouth off. My husband shut the door and this person continued to rant at our door for a bit.

    Hi All,

I'm a new member here, as we've recently moved into the Parkgrove area of Broadlands. I'm pretty sure the same cleaning product guy was by my house this evening too. He didn't get too pushy but tossed "Of course your not interested, guy's never buy cleaning supplies!" over his shoulder as he left. He had a thin build, strawberry blonde about 5' 9" shorts, polo shirt, and running shoes.

Ask to see his business license. If he doesn't have one, call the Sheriff's office.

On Monday night we had a guy selling MEAT. As if I'd buy meat out his trunk. He wasn't scary or threatening and left immediately when I told him that I was not interested. But I thought it was weird anyway.

I am a bit amazed that most of you even answer your doors. If someone knocks on my door, and I dont know them, or they arent carrying spicy panang chicken - I dont answer. The dogs barking is enough to tell them to go away.

We LOVE the "meat from a truck guy" (as he's affectionately known in our 'hood). He comes by about once a year and sells the BEST meat. I don't know if he's registered with the county, but I think that religion and food are exempt from being required to register.

We used to get plenty of meat guys in my old neighborhood.

Besides not knowing where the meat comes from.

These guys rarely pay sales and business taxes. Plus, they're taking away business from legit shops.

Unless I am expecting someone, I just don't answer the door. I know that's not neighborly, but I'm tired of telling these people NO!
