    Hi,

Could anyone please let me know if there is any obgyn place where we will have the same doctor right from the first prenatal appointment thru delivery?

I heard Loudoun OBGYN close to Loudoun hospital is good but it seems like we need to see all 4 doctors and anyone who is on-duty that day will be the one available for delivery.
Is this usually the case in all OBGYN offices?

    Thanks.

Yes, at Loudoun OB/GYN you have to see all 4 doctors but this is the smallest practice I could find that was covered by my insurance. And they came recommended by lots of folks. They do make you sign a piece of paper when you become a patient there saying you will see all 4 doctors and you cannot just get care from one of them.
THere is a dr. who has her own practice, named Dr. Bess. I have no idea of her skills. I would imagine, though, that any one doctor, or even two, in a practice, would have back-up folks if they were on vacation, sick, or tending to other patients, so you never know. Or residents who tend to their patients if it is a teaching hospital.

I go to Loudoun OB/GYN and recently had my 4th child with them. There are 4 doctors, but two doctors delivered my kids (Dr. Park delivered first and third child; Dr. Choudhry delivered second and fourth). They do make you sign something saying you can't have a specific doctor for delivery and towards the end of your pregnancy you'll see all 4 doctors. All doctors are very nice and I felt comfortable with all of them, but my favorite by far was Dr. Choudhry. He is a godsend to me. :)

I saw Dr. Duggal, who has her own practice (with a Nurse Practioner) (http://www.loudounwomenshealth.com). You can probably see her for all your appointments, but she shares weekend call with another doctor, so there is no guarantee that she will deliver.

I see Dr. Foster and am very happy with him! I also have experience with the midwives who are awesome!

I've had a couple friends who have "single" OBGYN's. No fail, when it comes time to deliver and the baby's not waiting, it's the OBGYN's on-call partner who shows up for the delivery. Given that babies are born days, nights and weekends, no one can be on call all the time and never go on vacation either.

I was lucky and had my OBGYN deliver all 3 of my babies even though there were 2 other doctors in his practice. I just happened to go into labor when he was on call or already scheduled for a hospital day. You just never know......

Good luck with finding the right doctor for *you*.

I highly recommend Dr G. Neil Foster.. He and Nurse Shannon and the receptionist are all great... He delivered my son back in June and he was so great and answers any questions you might have without being rush.. My older daughter was delivered by Womens Physicians of NOVA and I wasn't pleased because of the fact that I saw so many dr's.... I was recommended by my neighbors for Dr. Foster and he is also located at Loudoun County Hospital..

I am expecting and actually left Dr. Duggal's practice recently, not because I didn't like the doctor, but because I never got to see her. Out of the first four separate visits, I only saw the doctor once and the nurse three times. It's definitely a more intimate office and if you're familiar and comfortable with pregnancy, then maybe this type of set up would be okay with you. Otherwise, I'd let them know up front that you'd like to get to know the doctor better.

Wow, I'm shocked. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with Dr. Duggal's practice. She delivered my son last year... almost to the day 10/12. I thought she was fantastic and I saw her all the time. Maybe she's gotten busier since I was there last. I left another practice and became her patient and it was the best decision I had ever made! I had a pleasant birthing experience, which I couldn't say I had delivering my first baby.

I hope you find someone that makes you feel really comfortable. The right OB is very important... it's the difference between a great delivery experience and a horrible one.

    Best Wishes! and Congrats :)
