Okay - I need help from anyone that has good experience with a daycare or a good babysitter.

My husband and I recently moved into the area 6 hours away from any family. We are now expecting our first child.

Do you know of any good daycare facilities that are in the area that offer full or part time and aren't overly expensive? Or can you recommend any person that you have used before that might be willing to watch a newborn child.

Our child will not be born until March and I wouldn't need to start daycare until late April or beginning of May.

Any assistance would be great - we have no one in the area! :)

We love BeanTree Learning located next to Home Depot. Our son goes there and we hope our new little one (arriving sometime in February) will be there as well.

While Kindercare would be extremely close and convenient for us - I WILL NOT go there. I had seen the previous forums and just dont feel comfortable with it. I understand that they are under new management ..... but nonetheless - will not be going there. Thank you for your advice! :)

There are other Kindercares in the area. We have our children in Kindercare in Ashburn Village and it's been good.

yes, and from what *I* know... at least one of those charged individuals from the incident at the Kindercare on Waxpool... works at another Kindercare in Ashburn. Look at the names from the news article and see if that individual(s) works at YOUR Kindercare.

They have a record of covering up the dirty laundry now. It is "proven" that they did not report the 'incident' until 7 days after it occurred. I only want parents to be aware that these individuals STILL work around kids, and/or still work at Kindercare facilities. Get to know their names and keep your eyes and ears open... and listen to the little ones.

I have to live with what happened. And I will speak out about it as long as parents ask about daycares. I understand that Kindercare on Waxpool is under new management... means NOTHING to me. Why? Because I do not trust Corporate Kindercare (Headquarters), which means I don't trust any and ALL Kindercares now.

I'm not bashing parents who have their kids in Kindercare facilities... I just want parents to ask questions! Keep eyes and ears open. Knowledge is power! and when these people know they are being watched, when they know that parents are aware of what they did, I only hope that will make them be more honest.

I was not aware they were still working for Kindercare, but I'll surely ask around.

My kids were enrolled at the Broadlands KinderCare during the incidents and I have kept them enrolled ever since. Although it shocked me to hear what had taken place there, I was very pleased with how the situation was handled. The staff currently there are top-notch. Carrie Ann took over as the Center Director and has really done a great job. Not only are my kids having fun, learning, socializing, and being creative, they are very safe.

I recommend KinderCare of Broadlands. Please go and visit with Carrie Ann, Adrienne & Cindy. Ask lots of questions, tour the center, and see for yourself.

Can I ask, from your perspective, how did they handle the situation? What did they tell you happened? When did they tell you?

From my perspective... my daughter could have been seriously injured... they did not know if she was injured or not but they let her go home with my husband and me knowing that she could have sustained an injury (ever heard of shaken baby syndrome?). She should have been evaluated by her physician RIGHT AWAY! Otherwise, if we had to rush her to the ER, it's my husband and I that look like the abusers.

With all the legal ramifications, I doubt they would step up and admit the abuse to clear us.

They put my entire family in jeopardy with their stunt.

I'm not trying to diminish the extent to which this incident affected your family or your feelings toward KLC. I'm only offering my advice based on my experience at KinderCare the way I see it now. It is my opinion that this incident you are referring to was one of a very rare and unfortunate nature. KinderCare quickly moved to ensure the safety and well being of our children would not be put in jeapordy again and I really do believe that (or I wouldn't still have my children there today). They have really got their act together now if you ask me.

Does anyone perhaps use or know much about the JCC in northern virginia? I think we will be using the daycare there for our daughter as it is close to my soon to be new employer and also very reasonable and seemed like a cozy, nice enviornment. I loved Beantree but $1900 a month for infant care is unfortunately not in our budget.

Funny, I'm 33 and still have vivid memories of naptime at kindercare when I went there for summer care and was told that if any body part went off my mat at naptime that I'd get a crack with a wooden spoon.

So, does anyone else have recommendations on daycares in the area? We're currently at Minnieland and not very happy. Beantree (ahem, ahem :)) is a little out of our price range, but very good I do hear. We like Golden Pond, but they don't take kids my sons age (3 3/4).

We have our 3 1/2 year old in Chesterbrook and have no problems at all. He loves it there and learns so much! They teach them English, Spanish and Sign Language. He comes home and teaches us things every night!

They've gotten all new staff in the younger classrooms, so I can't tell anyone anything about them other than they seem nice. But from the Intermediate I room up (3 years+) all the teachers are great and VERY responsive.

We had our daughter in Minnieland, then moved to Winwood, then to Beantree. Satisfaction increased as we moved up the line. Yes Beantree is not the least expensive, but from our experience, you get what you pay for.
