2008 BMW 328i Sport Blk/Blk. Only 16,000 miles, perfect condition, garage kept, and woman owned. Fully loaded with every option...Navigation, Bluetooth, iPod/USB hook-up, Xenon headlights, 17" wheels, the list goes on...This car doesn't look a day old. Owner moved to New York City and no longer needs a vehicle. 2 1/2 years and 34,000 miles left on the factory warranty. 20% off the sticker $34,500...

My fiance is looking for a car like this so I looked up the value of what you are offering. Just as a reference, this car with every option available in excellent condition for private party sale is 30K. A good deal on this car in this economy is probably 24K, which is what trade in value is.

    Good luck...

You got me interested because the one similar vehicle I had checked was for sale at close to $40k. When I did a calculation using Edmunds with these options selected (see below) I got numbers to suggest a fair price around $35-$37k. There are a lot of variables actually when it comes to the options on this vehicle so without a full list it will be hard to check the value of this car. With an outstanding condition rating, the value is bumped up too almost 2k. Just food for thought as others may consider the last post.

I wonder if there is a lag between the data that Edmunds (or KBB) gets and their speed in analyzing it vs. the current market. When prices have dropped so quickly, their system and anaytical models may not be able to keep up. Also, a couple of articles quote Edmunds as saying that they use an historical element in their analysis, this will introduce a tempering effect on any large price swing.

In the end, all of these sites say they offer the data as a starting point or a tool in negotiations and that is what it all comes down to. A couple of months ago, there was a quote in the Post from a dealer on price negotiations in this market. He said that you don't want to be the one to open your mouth first.

Thanks NEO for posting your comment under my add. Beat it... This is a great car. If you compare it to others like this one on cars.com or autotrader you'll see it's priced very well. It has every option available to a 328i, so yes a stripped 2008 328 may go for less than $28,000. Maybe! $24,000! You are out of your mind. This car is just over a year old. Did you notice the three letters "BMW" not "FORD"? This is her buy out and she doesn't have thousands of dollars to cover the difference. It's a good price. Please anyone interested compare it to others and if you want to see it just shoot me an email. It's in perfect condition. And NEO keep your opinion to yourself. Especially when it's absolutely ridiculous.:screwy:

    Frame1,
My comment is not ridiculous, and just because you owe 34.5K on the car does not mean that is what it's worth. I entered in EVERY option into KBB, which is a site that dealers and most everyone else uses as realistic values for vehicles, and 28K is what it displayed as a good value for private resale. 24K is what you would expect to recieve as a trade in value at a dealer. Don't shoot the messenger... BTW, I did a search on cars.com, another site to sell your vehicle and there are a number of similar 328i's around 28K, again don't get mad at me, just posting my opinion...

Good luck selling your BMW, not FORD. If it was a FORD, it would be 12K.
