    Fellow Foodies--

Ok--y'all"--below is the Lancaster County Dutch Market info from our Amish and Mennonite friends of their Thanksgiving Specials.

As you may know or have heard, the Old-Order Amish and Old-Order Mennonites do not use the Internet or Web for home use. However, sometimes you will find that they are ingenious in using it in some sects for their businesses. The Conservative Mennonites utilize the Internet in business and not for home use. We are Beachy Mennonite--Conservative but we use computers at home and work, etc.--so I called our friends at the Market and obtained their permission to post their Specials for Thanksgiving.

They told me that the last day for ordering will be SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2007. However, do call and verify that I am correct. The "stand" at the Market is called KING'S BAR-B-QUE PIT AND PHONE NUMBER IS (301) 916-2734.

Also, please verify prices of products with a phone call or stop in the Market.

    Fellow Foodies--

Before I head to do chores--thought I would give you some info on a "locally owned Mennonite Market" about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Loudoun County. The market is called Yoder's Country Market located in Pratts, VA near Madison, VA. If you look on their web site--you will see that their catalog is available to request by mail. This is the type of Mennonite Market that we are looking to build in Loudoun County with a few changes. More meats and the like to be added.

    www.yoderscountrymarket.net (Yoder's Country Market info/site.)

Also, the Bulk Foods section is well worth the trip or ordering DIRECT from Yoder's catalog. Best prices around. Check site for store hours--open 6 days a week. Great trip for Fall.

Below are some more Mennonite businesses with reviews in Shenandoah Area(s)--

www.daytrippingmetro.com/route11.htm (Route 11 article related to local Mennonite businesses for day trips.)

www.the-cheeseshop.com (The Cheese Shop is a Mennonite owned business that carries Amish and Mennonite cheeses and other products.)

www.horseandbuggyproduce.com (Horse and Buggy Produce CSA is a great resource where over 100 Mennonites--Old-Order and Conservative Mennonites--sells their produce for almost 10 to 11 months. Great foods.)
