Any hotel recommendations for Charleston, SC?

    We are traveling to Charleston next month for a vacation and are looking for a hotel. Has anyone been there and have a hotel recommendation?

    Charleston is our favorite place to visit often!!
    We like the Renaissance in downtown for the location.

    There are other hotels in that same area of town which might have larger pools, more amenities or free breakfast esp. if you plan to go with kids? (perhaps a Residence Inn?)
    We mostly stay there for the location as we have gone each time around our anniversary without our children while they enjoy a weekend at the beach with grandparents.

    I don't have a hotel recommendation but I highly recommend the TripAdvisor website. It offers consumer reviews of hotels and I find it very useful when figuring out these things.
