'minor', to me, means it won't be even looked at until the real techs come back to work on Monday. We're stuck with the skeleton weekend crew.

Uh, Lee, this is a local issue that involves some faulty hardware somewhere down the line. As far as I'm concerned, it's not an 'ongoing issue'. My line has been fine for months except for a tiny hiccup now and then which is expected.

Honestly, there's no way in hell that I'm going to file a lawsuit each time they have some hardware issue somewhere down the line. It's folks that file lawsuits left and right each time they feel they are owed something that is clogging our court system.

Sure, I'm ticked off that our Internet is screwed up this morning. If I read my contract, they don't make any guarantees as to the service and I can cancel anytime. Overall, am I ticked off at Adelphia? Hell no. Being a techie, I understand how some things can fail somewhere down the line and it can take time to find it. In the past, these things have been resolved in a reasonable amount of time. These hiccups are more of the exception, not the norm... And while YOUR cable and internet has been fine ever since your 'lawsuit', ours has been fine also. If you really believe that somewhere in their files they have a special star next to your account number that says "Make sure this guy always stays up", you're being naive... Adelphia has simply been doing a lot to upgrade their infrastructure. Do I use them as my cable provider? Nope, but I'm seriously thinking of dumping Dish Network next fall in favor of Adelphia.

I'm sorry, but you coming into this thread and posting 2 messages about how we all should be taking Adelphia to court is just plain loopy.

Mr linux you all solve this anyway you want and I really didn't mean to give you advice on how to resolve this, but I do know from the building business the person that complains the loudest and effectively will get their home repaired first and fast and more then likely to the homeowners satisfaction even if it is beyond the warranty. The builder wants to shut them up fast so they don't run around complaining to everyone including their neighbors so the builders problems don't escalate. I hear builders in private say that all the time fix the screamers house before this gets out of control and send our best people over there, then say it is a shame the nice guy is going to wait.

And you all are naive if you believe this does not go on and probably it's that way in most businesses.

I also never had to continue with the lawsuit in court because my problem with adelphia was resolved before it got that far. We are also talking about something that went on for a period of time too. Also there is no such thing as an iron clad contract if pursued correctly.

Mr Linux I will stay out of these threads as I stay out of the homeowner construction threads.

My only purpose when I first joined these boards was to learn things about the northern virginia area that I did not know and to see peoples opinions on a variety of topics. I also only intended only to post on topics that could inform people of what could be a detrimental effect on the entire area not just braoadlands and why and from facts so we can continue and improve the lifestyle we have here not make it worse. I also have posted why certain projects are of a benifit to all of us that may at first seem they will not such as high density projects in the right places which down the road will help raise our property values not hurt them. loudoun is going to change and develop and we don't need the wrong kinds of developments to ruin what we all already enjoy.

I just tried to run a speedtest at wdc.speakeasy.net, and the page simply laughed at me :p

    Trace complete

This doesn't tell us much, as far as I can tell. Roundtrip times are great. From what I can tell, and from what I've been seeing on other forums, the problem might be caused by 2 things. One, they have had some system upgrades scheduled on the 28th; this potentially might have caused this recent disruption. Second, there have been reports of some faulty 'cards' going bad recently in some of their networking equipment. Both of these sound pretty feasible to me. If the upgrades were the issue, I would believe that they could have reverted back to the old 'equipment' when the problems started appearing. As for the faulty cards, that usually takes a day to determine exactly which ones are faulty, and depending on what needs to be replaced, they would need to order new cards, etc.

I'm hoping that by tomorrow afternoon, this will all be behind us. Otherwise, I highly encourage everyone to call in and add themselves to the troubleticket. This has 2 effects; it gives the tech folks some clues as to what might be causing the issues, and it increases the severity of the impact, and as such, increases the amount of techs assigned to the issue.

I guess we'll all see tomorrow...

Just called Adelphia and the idiots at Tier I support said to re-boot my cable modem and he didn't see a problem with the Ashburn area, even after I mentioned that my neighbors and members of my community were having the same problems.

Are the speeds better, or was it a just a localized outage ?

Same speeds, but I got a new IP, which hasn't happened in over 7-8 months. Looks like a localized outage, probably due to some hardware upgrades...
