Yeah, true - but the gridlock still almost virtually disappears once you hit Waxpool. Maybe it truly is people avoiding the Greedway.

Correct...it is not a road for public use. That is why I didn't mention it. I believe it was initially created for the school buses.
But of course, this bothers me more......WE FINALLY GET ANOTHER CREEK CROSSING BUT CAN'T USE IT!!!!!!!!!

Is Old Ox Road to 28 bad in the AM? It can't be worse than Waxpool....

No it's not. The problem is actually getting to Old Ox Road from Broadlands. That's conundrum :)

due to the accident at Rt 7 and 28 this morning, I took LCP to Waxpool to 28. left at 8:15am. the line up on LCP was back to verizon. witnessed the same rude behavior as ever but no near accidents this time. the best is the speedway between the lights at LCP and Wegmans, where pple haul a$$ and them slam on their brakes when a car cuts out of the slow middle lane into one of the others... amazing that more peopl aren't dead or with whiplash.

go to work at 9:03. using my other method, I get to work at 8:50am, and have no stress about the rude, reckless and impatient drivers that plague LCP and Waxpool in the morning... i have taken that route for the last time.

Anyone notice a difference in the AM now that the Waxpool Eastbound construction is complete?

Yep. I take ashburn farm pkway from claiborne all the way through to 28. With the exception of yesterday (it was backed up all the way to Ashburn road!), I have made it to 28 in about 10-15 minutes every morning.

What time is it when you get on Ashburn Farm Parkway from Claiborne?

as early as 7 AM but mostly 8:15ish.

It used to be 20 minutes or more. If traffic is backed up to Ash Village or more, I cut up either Village or Ashburn Road to Gloucester to LCP North to 7 and back down 28. Only saves time if traffic is really bad on Waxpool but at least I'm moving so it's less aggravating.

Decided to try my luck with Ashburn Farm Parkway this morning after walking my daughter to school.

Got on AFP at 07:43. Reached the intersection of AFP/Waxpool and LCP at 07:50 and hit the red light. The section of Waxpool between LCP and 28 had some volume and was backed up, but I got onto 28 at 07:53. Passed the intersection of 28 and 50 at 08:00 and reached my exit at Westfields and 28 at 08:03.

All in all, this was an incredibly unfrustrating and speedy commute to my office in the Westfields area this morning, but volume seemed lower than average today. Anyone know of any reason for a decrease in volume, or was traffic just 'flowing' more smoothly than normal?

No real reason but in general Thursday's always seem lower. I drive over to Claude Moore at 4:30am and just before 7am T-Th and for what ever reason the traffic at that time is always lighter on Thursdays so I think it makes it lighter for a lot of the commute

I wonder if they changed the two turn lights (from LCP to Waxpool) to be 3-5 seconds longer within the last week or so? I do this route every day so I usually know exactly where I need to be on LCP to make the next cycle... today I was a good 5-7 cars behind that point at which I've never made it but today I got through (before it even turned yellow) as well as 4 more cars behind me. So traffic well past the last access road on LCP made it through the turn.

Could be wishful thinking as this also has to do with how cars make the turn. Sometimes you get someone who slows to a crawling/cautious 5 MPH turning there... other times you'll see everyone keep a more consistent 10-15 mph turn going. This makes a huge difference, as that is the bottleneck (speed people take the turn at).

Is there any other reason you know of to drive to Claude Moore at that hour?

Waxpool East moved very smoothly today. first time i've taken it since the construction going east was completed. Yea, I know it's Friday but it was still nice to see it moving for once....
