    Lee,
Sir, again...I'll have to disagree with this statement. You'll have to prove it to me! I've lived in a lot of places...everyone of them had a pro-growth component using the same argument you just used. I've not lived in a SINGLE place where my taxes decreased because there was more commerical property. Not a single one. Sure...you'll put up figures to bolster your point... Figures lie...liars figure. I'll spare you the effort. Everyone knows it takes the RIGHT mix of commercial...usually industry, and the heavier the better, to bring tax dollars with little drain on the infrastructure. Service industry...nope. Too many people.

The first rule of sanity is never believe your own :bs:

So while respectfully disagreeing sir, that doesn't mean I'm anti-growth. Frankly, those who are are simply kidding themselves to the same order of magnitude the pro-growthers are! (see first rule of sanity). Growth will happen...controlling it is an illusion for the most part. Sure...you can try but once the politicos get dollar signs in their eyes...good bye anti-growth platform. I recently moved from Charlottesville - land of the free and home of the snobs. Same thing happened there. Lots of people screaming for controlled growth...right up until the profers started appearing. Then POOF! Unanimous votes for growth! Amazing how human nature will propel foward progress!

I'm a pragmatist...I believe the best we can hope for with growth is the same as the best we can hope for when challanging gravity...a draw. You never win trying to beat gravity, you most often lose and the best you get is a draw.

I for one APPLAUD the growth. All of the great things coming to this neck of the woods has me THRILLED to be here. I wouldn't want to live in a stagnant area, or, worse yet, one from which everyone was moving. There is a reason people leave... and there is a reason people come. I happen to really enjoy being here: where everyone is COMING. If one doesn't like growth, one shouldn't be in NoVA.

I'll second that! People are a LOT nicer here than in Charlottesville...that's for darn sure!

Buffettbassman I respect your opinion, but these planned commercial projects will help the taxes and help with roads and most important it will be beautiful growth. :) Smart growth is not smart unless it is beautifully done first.

so by smart growth---you mean the opposite of what's going on with Waxpool /Farmwell/Ashburn Parkway from claiborne all the way to 28??? atleast they got the overpass done at waxpool/28 done in time (for me to move out here)....but waxpool blows in the morning, and not all of us want to take out a 2nd mortgage so we can take the greenway.
