The wife and I are sold on Bangrak, that's our go-to Thai place.

This new Thai restaurant was probably looking at pretty low costs to get the space set up for use given that it used to be a Thai restaurant, so that's always attractive to someone starting a new business.

Just as a side note, Went to ANOTHAI Saturday, AWESOME!!!!

I'm not sure, that Sauls center has seen some restaurants come and go. The rent there is really high. Good luck.

My wife is a Thai national and she cooks a mean Thai meal anytime she wants to! Pays to be married to a Thai! My favorite meal to eat is Pad Thai! Delicious...Yummmm... No need to go to these two restaurants when I have my own Thai Restaurant at home. :) Heck, our pantry is full of Thai ingredients!!!

In this area nothing compares to MyThai in Brambleton. It's worth the extra few minutes to get there.

Make sure to get the sticky mango rice.

That, too, is often made by my wife at home. My own mother LOVES her sticky mango rice. I even eat it with strawberries as I hate mango.

All I can say is YUMMMM on the sticky rice with coconut sauce..Grrrr...Now Im hungry for it.

So if your wife ever went out for Thai food, where would she go for the good stuff?

If his wife is like me, I'm Italian and NEVER go out for Italian food....doesn't compare to my own, so I'm guessing his wife doesn't either. :)

Funny you mention Bobby Flay since the vastly-overrated Thai Basil of Chantilly didn't last long in this spot in the Safeway shopping center.

Now, there's a new victim, er, tenant -- Mali Thai. Service is poor, food is average and no ABC license. I give it a month or two tops. With so many good Thai options in close proximity, don't even waste your time.

Interesting that Thai Basil was mentioned here...Yesterday, my co-workers and I had ordered Thai food and it was DELICIOUS although the food portion to me was kind of small to begin with. Wasn't in Ashburn long enough to see the restaurant close and relocate. I wouldn't mind buying from them again as long as the food portions got a bit larger for the amount of $$$ it costs.

I agree that there are MULTITUDES of Thai restaurants now...its exploded over the last decade after everyone got tired of all those Chinese restaurants that exploded in Northern Virginia over the last 30 years. People now want diversity with food tastes....In short, just chinese food alone got a bit boring.

Maybe the Thai Basil Chantilly location was better in terms of location and food. I don't know because I don't think I've been to either one.
