I have been able to get a copy of the site plan for the new Brambleton Town Center that will be opening Fall of 05 (at least the Harris Teeter section). The 16 screen movie theater complex will be the centerpiece of the lifestyle section along with a number of retail stores, office space, a 40,000 sq foot gym on the 2nd floor (like at Plaza America in Reston). It looks somewhat similar to Reston Town Center (without the large buildings and hotel), but on a smaller scale. They have started construction on the daily needs section (phase 1) and I see that they are most likely putting in another Chevy Chase Bank (the fourth one for the Ashburn area).

Good grief ... I know Bank of America said they were putting in a branch somewhere in Ashburn, trouble is, I have not seen anything that shows the location.

There is a B of A branch in the shopping center where Lowes, Ethan Allen, Chick-fil-A are - close to the Dulles Town Center Mall.

There is a B of A ATM in Ashburn. It's in the parking lot of the CVS/Food Lion/KFC-Taco Bell strip mall. We use it all the time.

There's a BOA branch office in Herndon on Centreville Rd in front of the Staples store in the center next to the clock tower (Shoppers Food Warehouse, Red Lobster). It's convenient to the Dulles Toll Rd/Herndon Exit if you use it.

I'll try and post it tomorrow (I have it stored on my PC at work). It will be located about 1/2 west of the current intersection of Belmont Ridge and Ryan Rd.. The plan says that Harris Teeter and the daily needs section will open 3rd quarter of 2005 and the theaters and and lifestyle section will be opening 2nd quarter of 2006. Construction has already started and they are putting walls up on the Harris Teeter, but still have not cleared the trees for the lifestyle section. Eventually the rerouted 659 will take you right to the shopping center. From Broadlands will be just a few minutes down Belmont Ridge. Sure will beat driving to Sterling, Herndon or Leesburg to see a movie.

Gee, would be nice if Broadlands could get a Harris Teeter.

Forget it, we are stuck with the lousy Safeway. Gosh that place is weird. I never shop there anymore. The employees are just weird and in the evening the managers are all just standing around together gossiping and shooting the bull, ignoring people waiting at the service desk. the only alert friendly person I have met there is the produce guy. Why does the pharmacy close at 6pm?

I thought Claiborne was going to eventually meet up with Brambleton in some fashion. Any know for sure and, if so, how?

Here is a link to the site plan:

Yes, Claiborne is to connect with Ryan Rd just East of the Brambleton community. You would turn right on Ryan Rd. and then proceed about 1 mile to the Town Center. However, the section of Clairborne between Ryan Rd. and Croson Lane (about 1.25 miles I would guess) does not have any funding in place to finish it. There is an application being put in with the County to rezone some land between Southern Broadlands and Forest Manor to the south to change it to allow a higher density. They are still trying to nail down the proffers and if this goes through might provide some money for the completion of Claiborne to Ryan Rd or if not that then the completion of Croson Lane from Claiborne to Belmont Ridge.

Based on a presentation by the land use attorney for the developer doing that area, there is some proffer money to extend Claiborne through to Ryan, but there are two 'by right' subdivisions, on either side of the designated router that did not proffer anything. So, its up to the county to come up with some funds, then to argue with the owners of the properties that line the route about the road going through.
