Has anyone had afternoon tea at the British Pantry in Aldie? It looks pricey at $32 a person with some rather ho-hum reviews.

How does it compare to afternoon tea at Oatlands?

I haven't been there for years, nothing endeared me about the place. Haven't tried Oatlands, but can definitely recommend afternoon tea at the Ritz Carlton Tysons Corner, it is wonderful. If you don't come away feeling like Maggie Smith or Lady Mary in Downton Abbey then I'll eat my hat!

British pantry seem to have a freezer section with sausage rolls - might be worth the trip there.

I hosted a tea party at the British Pantry last year and I wasn't overly impressed and was a guest at a party at the Oatlands (horrible). Conversely I have hosted several baby-bridal showers at the Ritz and the service/food was stellar.

+3 on the Ritz. Plus you get valet parking and a "proper" high-tower of sweet & savory treats.
