I wish I could make it. Would someone be kind enough to post highlights here for those of us who can't attend in person?

It was a very interesting discussion. Scott (I missed his last name, I have it on a card at home) gave a fairly well done rundown of the Broadband for the county. For background, Scott worked as an engineer at AOL and PSI.Net for quite a long time and has been in the Broadlands for about 7 years. He is now working as the Broadband lead for the County.

Scott has been working for about 15 weeks on the job. His duties right now are to map out the county broadband and work with getting information from all the major providers on technologies and rollout plans (among others).

We talked alot about the history of broadband for us and what we felt we needed in the future. One of the biggest things was the need for a provider that allowed open IP addresses (so we could run our own servers).

He also has no information on rollout plans for any of the providers. Getting information out of Verizon was totally unresponsive to all requests for information.

Scott said he would be more than happy to meet with us again in a few months.

    Scott's last name is Bashore.

    I like this comment:

This sounds way too familiar. Can ANYBODY get info out of Verizon?
