I've been going to Broadlands Family Practice for several years after moving to this area and getting a recommendation from others.

I've been very happy with the doctors there but I think they are becoming a victim of their own success. The past several times I've tried to get an appointment, it's been very difficult to get one in a reasonable amount of time.

Just today (Thursday morning), I called because I'm not feeling well and the 1st appointment that is available with a doctor is Monday morning - 4 days from now! They did offer to see a PA tomorrow, but only one appointment time was available which didn't work for me.

While I really like them (when I can get in to see someone), I may have to find another provider.

Anyone else have this experience, or is it just my bad luck?

We've always been happy with Broadlands Family Practice Dr. Cohn is the best.

I think we only had to see the PA once, who was also great, when Dr. Cohn was out of town.

You may want to see if they have an appt available at their other office or call back and see if they can squeeze you in.

Also I found it I call first thing in the AM they managed to get me in. Maybe it was just bad timing, but I hope you feel better soon (there is a nasty bug going around).

I second that, the Practice is the best. Dr. Rodrguez is great. Maybe they have Dr.s on vacation. I know a couple of years ago, I went to see the Dr and couldn't get an appointment for a few days, turns out he was on vacation. No Big deal, it happens. They are one of the better practices around.

I know Dr. Wilder is just coming back from maternity leave, so maybe that's having an impact. My husband was able to get an appoint with Dr. Cohn today for a sore back and he called on Monday to make the appointment. He went to the new Brambleton location.

Much like everyone else, I have not had this experience. I have always been able to get in to see one of the doctors. Hopefully it was just a fluke?

I think it has been harder since Dr. Wilder went on maternity leave. I know the couple of times I have called they have not had an appointment in Broadlands but usually they could fit me in with another doctor in the new Brambleton location. Not optimal but if you need to be seen the Brambleton location is pretty convenient.

We have had the same problem - we have actually left the practice because it happened too many times. Additionally, my husband went for a sinus infection and was told they would automatically send his perscription over to the pharmacy. He went to the pharmacy and no perscription. He called the office ( by this time it was 1 hour since his apt) the receptionist told him it took 24 hours. So even though he was upset he left and came back the next day - still no perscription. Called the office again and was told " oh you need a new script - we only call in refills". Really that was the last draw, even after he explained he was there the day before for an apt she still had trouble understanding. Took 3 days to get a perscription for a sever sinus infection.

On the other hand, I just called (8:35am) and got an appointment with Dr. Cohn for 9:20am today. It's probably just luck of the draw and who is on vacation when. Now, that's not to say that when I get there I don't sit around waiting for a long time - we'll have to see.

They may have had a cancellation. Sometimes you can ask to be added to the cancellation list for that day and since we're closeby it only takes minutes to get there.

My husband and I like Dr. Holger Noelle with Nova on the corner by Ashburn Post Office. We do not remember a time where we could not get in ASAP. He is a very good Dr., with knowledge of Alternative Medicine on the side.

I have noticed it becoming more difficult to get an appt. and specifically more difficult to get it with the drs. I like and know there and instead being put in with new docs.
BFP is owned by Fairfax Family Practice. This is where my husband and I went for 10 years when we lived in Ffx. County. The practice grew huge in a short time, much like what seems to be happening to BFP. Pretty soon, the only docs you could get an appt. w/ were residents. This was fine, but find one you like and too bad, they're gone in 2 years or however long they are supposed to stay there. Try speaking to a doc on the phone-impossible. Try getting a prescription called in or any other type of paperwork request--took days. Finally, my husband and I left for a smaller practice. Then we moved here and started going to BFP, love Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Cohn. But now very hard to get appts. with them so we may be moving on again.

Our family hasn't experienced this. Just a few weeks ago I got an appointment (one of two time openings that day) for an hour after I called *with* my primary doctor. Occasionally we've seen a physician's assistant if one was available sooner than the regular doctor, but even that worked out just fine.

Still, you may have a point and the fact that so many of us are on this board recommending the practice isn't going to help any.

if you insist on a particular doctor AND call with enough notice, you can see who you want. in emergent situations, sure, that's difficult, but being flexible if you really like one or 2 docs helps. we are impressed enough with Dr. Rodriguez's care that we are happy to work around his schedule to get in with him.

I'm sorry to hear you had problems with BFP.

My husband and I have never had problems getting an appointment. I called yesterday and got a same day appointment.

Yes they've become very popular over the years and have grown so much but that's because they are a good practice, well that's my opinion at least.

They are trying to accommodate their increasing size with an office renovation for Ashburn, and a totally new office in Brambleton and they are always hiring new employees.

If I feel the need to be seen the same day I'm calling, I try to call first thing in the morning so I can get any openings for that day. Even if I don't, and it's an emergency they have always squeezed my family in with one of the doctors.

two thumbs up for BFP here!
