I have a question regarding this topic: is it legal to capture streaming video? I thought that one of the ideas behind streaming video is that the video file is not saved to your hard drive -- you only have access to it on the content provider's terms.

Ha, kinda funny since the video is of my law school graduation. Anyway, I thought the intent of the streaming video was to reach a large number of people at the same time (usually a live broadcast). I will look into the legality of saving the video, but off the top of my head it is not illegal to record a public broadcast, but you can not rebroadcast it without expressed consent of the producer. If you think about it, it is the same as a live television or radio broadcast. The stream is sent out and you are permitted to record it for later viewing. Moreover, you can copy and "back-up" any of your videos or music. On the other hand you can not resell the recorded duplicate. I would say that saving the streaming video is perfecty legal. (footnote: I have not researched it yet)

BTW: I used WM Recorder and it worked well. The features are easy to use and make a nice quality video. It is not a huge file program either and installs in seconds. Anyway, WM Recorder works great!

I don't really care either, I was just curious.

I wasn't specifically referring to Neighbor's video -- clearly, I wouldn't think that would present problems. I was thinking more in terms of streaming video from CNN, ESPN, etc. that someone might have an interest in protecting.

Yah, I was referring more to Neighbor's pending legal investigation on the subject as being a potentioal waste of time. :)

Well, if you have the time and/or money not better spent on something more worthwhile, knock yourself out...I'm just saying it's a pretty worthless endeavour.

Maybe posting on a forum 746 times, for no reason what so ever (like this topic) is a waste of time. Even at 1 minute per post, that is 746 minutes. So you have spent amolst 13 hours posting worthless information (once again, like this topic). Wow, now there is a pretty worthless endeavour. You must have tons of time to waste! I wasted 1 minute replying to your reply. Thanks for monitoring my time though.
