Does anyone have kids that have (or know someone who has) attended Camp Invention? Here's the website. It sounds very cool but not sure if it lives up to what it says. This is my question for most camps which is why I don't normally send my kids to them. But I'm thinking this is the year. ;-)

Also, if you have other camp recommendations, I love to hear about them.

Thanks so much for your input!!

We did it a couple of years ago when it was at Dominion Trail Elementary and it was good.

I am interested in hearing about Camp Invention, as well as Encampus, which meets at the Embassy Suites in Ashburn. The Certifikid offer cuts the price in half to $199 for 5 half days. Any experience with this one?

The Director of Camp Invention asked me to post this for her. Please contact her at Hillside Elementary at the below email address:

"I am the camp director for Camp Invention at Hillside this summer. This will be our first year hosting the camp, but after hearing from several other directors that have been offering this camp year after year (and SELL OUT every time!) it is a wonderful experience for children. We are hosting the camp from June 17-21st from 9-3:30 and here is a brief summary of the four modules that the children work on each day:
Camp Invention CREATE program at Hillside Elementary School- In the Problem Solving on Planet ZAK® module, children will crash-land on an alien planet, where they collect important data about its environment to help them design shelters and spacesuits able to survive the planet’s harsh living conditions. Children will explore “green” city design and create an eco-friendly infrastructure by instituting pollution-free water filtration systems, landfills, waste disposal systems, and transportation powered by renewable resources in the Saving Sludge City™ module. In the I Can Invent: Launchitude™ module, children will take apart broken or unused appliances using real tools and re-engineer the gears to invent an awesome Duck Chucking Device! Finally, in the Geo-Games™ module, classic high-energy games will be fused with global fun.

The discount should be $15 plus $5 for registering online....for a total of $20 off. If you are having trouble reaching the $20 total discount online....please email the camp director at erin.timothy@lcps.org and I'm sure she'll take care of it for you.
