FYI - the new form to submit traffic complaints can be found at http://va-loudouncounty.civicplus.com/forms.aspx?FID=71

The link provided earlier in this thread is an old form that they are no longer using (even though it allows you to submit online). Apparently anything submitted using that older link goes into a database that is no longer reviewed.

I witnessed a car on Monday driving north on Claiborne going full speed through the Ridgeway intersection, and posted a complaint on the form linked to previously. I just received a call from the sheriff's office asking me to resubmit via the URL listed above.

I'm not sure where I would submit a complaint, but yesterday evening we were driving west on Waxpool and crossing the intersection of Claiborne on a GREEN light and a woman heading south on Claiborne drove straight through the intersection to turn left/east on Waxpool. If we had been a second or two earlier, she would have T-boned us right on my sons back door. He was a little freaked out over it to say the least.

Essentially, I don't know what it will take to get people to obey traffic lights or stop signs. Inattentive drivers are what cause the accidents/problems - regardless of the stop sign/traffic light/speed limit/school flashing lights, etc.

Yesterday I was heading north on North Star Blvd/Belmont Ridge Road from Brambleton back toward Broadlands. I have an SUV and was probably going about 40mph when all of a sudden a tiny silver car driven by what looked like a teenage girl pulls right out in front of me making a left from Croson Road heading toward Briar Woods. I was WAY too close for her to have taken the chance pulling out. If it would have been a second or two later I am pretty sure I would have smooshed her and the female passenger in their tiny car.
I drive this path daily and am always wondering...
WHEN is Belmont Ridge going to be widened and WHEN will we get some traffic lights at either Truro Parish and/or Croson?! It is scary especially with so many high school drivers. What is wrong with the transportation planners around this area?! With TONS of homes and townhomes being built all up and down Belmont Ridge and an already overcrowded Briar Woods High School (and projected to get worse for next few years), you'd think this would be a higher priority?! Also, what is taking so long to get Claiborne punched through to Ryan Road? That would offer an alternative to Belmont Ridge.

Our traffic laws are such a farce...if we as a country were actually serious about enforcing the traffic laws and minimizing accidents we'd have a nation full of automated enforcement systems and we wouldn't allow cars to go above 100 mph. The reason we don't? They're too effective...people don't want to obey the law. Whenever a city tries to put a system like this in place people scream and they get repealed. Then, of course, people resume their complaining about nobody following the law.

or instead of chasing the bad.. we could do a better job of educating and requirements up front instead of handing out licenses as if they were a god given right.
