I'm looking for tires and my main concern is the lowest possible price. Does anyone have any good recommendations for places around here (I'm not really concerned with the brand of tire).

I had tires put on over 10 years ago at the Costco in Sterling and I recall they had decent prices. I have no iea if they still do good work with good prices, or if there's anyone better.

Costco is still the go to place for my tires. It seems I'm always happy to throw my business to Ashburn Tire for everything else though, except actual tires. You may want to compare them though.

I just got four new ones today at Sam's after pricing Goodyear and Costco, they were the cheaper ones.

I recently bought 4 new tires at Costco. My last set of tires was also from Costco. About a month later one of my tires had a slash in the side, bad manufacturing I guess. Anyway, Costco measured the tread and replaced the tire free of charge. I get regular tire rotation and balances (I'm at Costco every weekend to shop anyway) and free patching. I'm guessing Sams Club offers this as well because both stores offer similar services but it's totally worth it to buy from one of these big box stores.

Costco and Sams have good prices, but recently I checked at Merchants in Ashburn and they had the tires I wanted and the price was EXACTLY the same as costco. I can't take sitting at Costco for 3+hrs to get tires (don't have time for that). Merchants is easier b/c it local. They have shifted to a tires cost x and that include everything.

Do they (Costco and Merchants) offer free tire rotation through the life of the tires?

Having said that, I should add that I did get tires once at Curry's - and was able to negotiate a price that was quite close to the quote I had from Costco - including the road hazard warranty. Lesson learned - never accept list price the first time you see it :)

    Try online.
I brough from Tirerack.com and tire-easy.com and have no complaints. Much cheaper than any brick and motor stores, selection is wonderful. Tirerack guys are very knowledgeable, they do their own video reviews too.

They ship it directly to a local tire dealer for installation.

Curry's is running a $10 over cost deal. They will beat anyones price. Typically they are slightly cheaper than tire rack if you need a price point. Ask for Alan.

Also, why would you go cheap on tires. Tires are one of the most important parts of the car and are the only thing keeping you on the road. Is your car, life, and family worth buying a substandard product that could fail in an accident avoidance situation ?

I've generally been pleased with Curry's price and service, it's where I get tires these days.

Over the years I've tried lots of different tires. I can't say I've found that the price of the tire correlates with how good it is, where the most important factor to me is wet traction. I've had expensive tires that were horrible and less expensive tires that were great. Also, I haven't found that any one brand has all great tires.

I'd be cautious of the absolute cheapest tires possible, since you still want good traction in the elements and good stopping distance.

Consumer reports & Tirerack is good to determine a decent tire.

Tires before were great (Michelin MX something) but only lasted 20K at 800+ for a set. So this time tried Yokihama based on tire rack reviews. I also talked over my decision with a BMW service person. Not quite as good, but ~500 if memory serves and supposed to last.
