Cats with tags roaming the neighborhood

I've noticed two cats (both with tags) strolling around the neighborhood lately. One is a small black cat, the other is a tiger striped one. Roaming cats are terrible for the song bird population as they enjoy the hunt and are frequently successful. Plus, they defecate wherever they want which usually seems in someone's mulched beds. Looking into the issue with animal control. Keep your cats indoors please.

 

It's a danger for the cats too. They can get hit by a car, pick up parasites, rabies, roundworm, FeLV - highly infectious, ticks and fleas that they can bring back to the house, they can be attacked by dogs, fox, coyotes and humans, ingest a poisoned mouse or lap up anti-freeze, they may be intentionally trapped and taken to a shelter because folks to do not want cats wandering in their yard. They could get trapped in someone's garage and left for days without food and water - the list goes on. I hear stories all the time about people who say their cat just disappeared - didn't come home one day and they wonder why?
