Been reading up that Adelphia is beginning the rollout of a new tiered price/service structure. Evidently CA is already on track and the rest of the country is supposed to follow next month (May). I have not seen official prices or level plans yet, but from what I see on DSLR everyone will automatically start at 2000/256 (down/up from 3000/128).

Also new (to me anyhow) is that Adelphia is offering static IP addresses - but at a serious price. Your first static IP runs $39.95/mo and add'l statics at a cost $5.95/mo. (And you still can't run servers btw.)

    John,
Any updates on the wireless yet? Is testing going well, is the project feasible for this company so far?

On the phone Adelphia claimed you could run an IIS for personal webserving with the Static IP. However, I have a friend who is runing a 3rd party COTS that will allow IIS on a DHCP by autoupdating the DNS everytime the IP changes :D. Anyone tried that with Powerlink yet?

For Powerlink users, Adelphia has a line in the cable modem config that blocks all TCP/UDP traffic to port 80. To get around this (and violate your TOS), you could have IIS listen on a different port.

As far as updating DNS whenever your IP changes, there are tons on programs to do this. I use DirectUpdate (http://www.directupdate.net/index.html). Makes remote monitoring of your network a lot easier (using ping of course since we can't run any servers [8)])

Wow this is new. Their TOS have been changed, you can get a static IP address now for an added fee. Will have to find out how much that is (and if you can run a webserver/etc with it). http://www.adelphiapowerpage.com/terms_of_service.cfm

I actually just spoke to adelphia and I was told the static IP is only part of their Expanded Business package. The Package cost $129/month. What do you get for that? You get static IP, additional E-mail address' and they will host a business web site for you and DNS. You can NOT run a webserver at your home! Doesn't seem like much of a deal to me!

Does the upload/download bandwidth change or do they even guarantee anytype of bandwidth? If not, then thats not a deal at all. It would be like paying $80 for a static IP.....:(

I'm not positive, but I think that does NOT come with any bandwidth guarantee
