We have this strange thing going on with IE where when we go to pages like Yahoo.Com it thinks we are in germany (German adds, etc...) also when we go to sites like Disney.Com it thinks we are logging in internationally.....

Any idea how to fix this?

Was bedeuten Sie? Sie sind in Deutschland! Sitzen Sie sich hin, entspannen Sie sich, haben Sie ein Bier bitte. Ihr Computer ist nicht defekt.

its either done by your IP (which at least right now is not German) or by detecting your computer's locale. Is your language or any of your regional settings set to something german?

My laptop did that last weekend while I was surfing. My neighbor was with me when it happened and she said it happened to her as well. It went away on its own.

Our daughter gets this same behavior when she goes to the Cartoon Network website. I know that some sites automatically set localization based on your IP address....is Openband routing us through Germany?

Check your IP at whatsmyip.net and then go to http://all-nettools.com/toolbox/smart-whois.php and put the IP there. See where the IP is located.

Also check your browser if a German proxy is being used.

Having said that, today my IE automatically goes to Yahoo Malaysia when I sign in to my email account. Weird!

Who is your internet provider? Are you all on Openband? If you are all with the same provider could it be your provider outsourcing IP hosting duties overseas? I don't really understand the technology, but it is just a shot.

the thing is.. our website shows their IP as from openband's normal range.. so one would assume it would be the same for other sites.
