Cool Tools on DYI Network

There is a new show on the DYI network called Cool Tools and sadly my DVR is recording the series.

Before I go out and buy...anyone have feedback on the following products featured on the Multi-Tasking episode?

1) Stanley Extreme FuBar

2) Dremel 400 XPR

3) Little Giant Ladder Sys

little giant ladders seem overpriced....

stanley fubar looks mean.. i want one.... =) look like they're for doing demo work mostly... are you doing projects yourself?

 

Costco is selling the Little Giant (I think it is a promo) but the price is the same... just that you get the 100% Costco warranty... but I think the Little Giant is over-priced and you are better off getting basic ladders.

I tend to shy away from the Dremel and things like it - to me it seems like it is good for hobbies and small jobs, but beyond that, not really useful. The power is not good enough as a drill, and how often do you need to cut nails or remove small areas of finish? The cutter blades (saw) "seem" like a cool idea, but in practicality, does this really seem like the cutting tool of choice for the typical wood cutting job?

 

I own the Dremel 400 XPR and I love it. I've used it for so many small and big projects, and plan to use it a lot more. There are so many things it can do, especially if you trick it out with all the accessories it can use. Very useful tool, and I imagine over time it will pay for itself.

I recommend getting one attachment that doesn't come with it, it's a bit chuck. Dremels usually use collets and collet nuts to hold the bits and attachments (like wheels, grinders, etc). The chuck bit allows you to change the bits like you can change them on a power drill, very useful for quick-changing. It costs $10.

Yup - plan to put built-ins for our baby's play room & a mini-wine cellar under our basement stairs.
