Day Camps at Pools

My wife and kids were up at the Community Building Pool yesterday.

At 1:00 pm, a day camp showed up with 60 kids and 4 workers. The kids filled the entire shallow side of the pool since they were all little kids.

My wife decided to leave with my 5 kids since the pool was so crowded.

I thought that you had to be a member of our community or joined the pools to use them. I wouldn't think that a day camp could show up with 60 kids and use our pools.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

    Thx in advance.

12 kids per worker to keep safe in a crowded pool is very unnerving. I wonder what the lifeguards thought of this...

There are 2 different Top Kick groups that have an arrangement with the HOA. One is at Southern Walk pool on Tuesday and Thursday from 11am to 12:30 pm, and the other is at Community Center also on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 2:30. The groups are divided up as either one would be too much for either pool to handle at anyone time. Over 50% of the camp participants are Broadlands residents anyway so they could be using the pool but this way the HOA is collecting extra money to porvide more lap times, and enhancements that the residents have been requesting.
Additionally my understanding is there were only 43 campers yesterday and that according to the guards there was 5 counselors one of whom stayed in the bath house area to monitor behavior there.

    Staci -

Where can I find the link to the calendar listing all these types of events? Frankly, I would also be pretty damn disturbed if 43 (or however many) kids showed up all at once and took over a pool. But, as the good little Broadlands resident, I'll just avoid those times instead.

    Thanks!

    Brewer.

I understand what you are saying but since it is only 43ish people at a pool that can hold 135 I do not see it as a take over of the pool. But ok
There is not a calender at this time that has all the pool information. The newsletter does have the early closing and late opening times. As for the camp they are at SW on T and Th from 11 to 12:30 and at CC on T and TH from 1 to 2:30. The camp is the only activity that is going on during normal pool hours unless someone is having a birthday party that brings in extra guests

Great answer. Now, if I had a schedule of when these pools were hosting events, I would know which to avoid and when to avoid them.

It's been stated twice already in the thread, but here is the "schedule" you are looking for:

SW on T and Th from 11 to 12:30 and at CC on T and TH from 1 to 2:30

You know, this is the reason I never post on this clicky board. I wasnt looking for sarcastic answers, just facts.

Im lucky if I get my kids out to the pools once a week for an hour, and if in that brief time I utilized the pools a couple mini-busses showed up packing Karate kids, I would be disturbed. [Edited By Forum Administrator] I simply asked for when these event occur so I can avoid them. And what response do I get in return: Go to a different pool and learn to read.

    Nice attitudes.

    Brewer,

You asked a question, which was answered earlier in the thread. A user replied to your request for the 'event schedule', pointed you to the times that were previously posted, and reprinted them for you.

I think the person with the attitude might be yourself. I understand your frustration, but when the information has already been pointed out, or when people try to help you and get a remark such as "Nice attitudes.", you're not making it easy for folks to respect you and help you in the future.

Sorry, but attitude is a 2-way street. If you start with a positive attitude, I'm sure you'll get it in return.

Wow. Sue me for trying to be helpful and point out the days/times for you. I wasn't being sarcastic at all. I thought maybe you missed it when scanning the thread. I know I don't always catch things the first time so I put it out there with no other text so it would be easier to find. Seems like *I'm* not the only one with an attitude.

    Eric -

You may be right, but being a pretty sarcastic guy myself, I have a good nose for sensing it, even in written text.

I would agree that you should take your own advice and not use this "clicky" board.
The only attitude displayed was clearly your own.
    In my humble opinion.

Dang, even I find a good portion of this thread childish and I may be the biggest child here! ;)

So Brewer would like to see a schedule of events for the community pools. Not an unreasonable request IMO. Hopefully one can be done for future years.

In the time being, Sarah (who I do not think was being snippy Brewer) and Staci have posted the Camp schedules.

    Brewer-

I like your moxy and agree with your assessments of the pool situation, and the boards. The pools are a very touchy topic for the HOA. I made a similiar mistake several weeks ago and was pummled by the crowd, lectured, and hammered by the King - great line Btw.

Yes, you gave us all a show of childishness I wouldn't accept from my 13 year old.

Oh c'mon now! You got pummeled by the crowd because you offended them, and you even admitted it!

"O.K., I put my chin out there and I got pounded. Deservedly so, good lesson on posting when emotional. My apologies if I offended anyone."

Going back to the pool discussion... I don't mind one camp if it brings extra revenue and so I'll avoid those days at the pool..... BTW the community center pool is our favorite because it's usually so quiet.... What I would like to know is that if in the future more camps approach the HOA with the same requests, will they be able to? At what point will it be considered too much?
