Day Care & Bean Tree Learning - Review

I know there have been several threads over the years about this topic, I wanted to provide a detailed & (very) recent review of Bean Tree Learning.

We just enrolled our little guy (who turned 3 on the 14th) and his fist day was this past Monday. After some feed back from the staff, we elected to send him 5 days a week for the first few months and then throttle back as my work schedule allows.

PROS:Much smaller classes for the Preschool I group (ages 2.5 to early 3s). Lots of activities to simulate both the brain & body. Very health menu selection, they will work with you for special diet needs such as; lactose, soy nut allergy etc. Their entire facility is a 'nut free' zone which includes what parents bring in (for B-day parties etc). They have a new "water park" which opens next Monday and it looks like lots of fun. Over all their facilities are the cleanest I have encountered and I am a neat freak.

Miss Tonya & Ms Wilda are his primary teachers and they have worked with him one on one due to the expected separation issues. Yesterday I "dropped" by on my lunch break and watched both of his teachers rub his back in a (successful) attempt to lull him and several other children to sleep. I have received emails with pictures of my little guy during the day and I have always been able to talk to at least one of his teachers when I call.

I like their approach of re-directing negative behavior and yes after 3 days I was called into my first parent teacher meeting. My kid has a "slight" issue with foul language and I have no idea where he picked up this habit. (LOL)

The staff is WONDERFUL, let me repeat Bean Tree's Staff is absolutely WONDERFUL.

CONS: Depending on your pick up time, it can be some what chaotic. So a word of warning if you pick up between 5:30-6:30 when it is free-play time it can be pretty loud and lots of activity. I found out after the fact this is when they combine the preschool classes.

Make sure your kids wear sneakers (not sandals or crocs), when they play outside the sand and dirt gets into their shoes.

Yes Bean Tree is expensive, but the cost of tuition includes various items that are not included in other daycares..such as; diapers, wipes, sunscreen, food etc. It has been a tough week for my little man, but the staff at Bean Tree have exceeded my expectations.

If you are looking into day-cares, I would highly recommend Bean Tree Learning.

 

I agree. No place is perfect but I feel totally comfortable sending my kids there.

 

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Ms Wilda! Your little man is in great hands. I'm sad my youngest won't be with her......we're in EP with you guys right now and will skip over her group in Sept. I agree, no place is perfect and every center has their issues. But BT is the best we've been able to find for our 3 kids, one with special needs. We've been there 4.5 years and probably have 3 more years to go.

Here's hoping the separation anxiety ends soon. And the kids love waterpark!

 

sweet, a water park! The water park at Open Arms is one of those ghetto plastic baby pools and a hose 8) Would love Beantree but we're already paying 1k/kid/month...can't imagine more!

 

We signed up with Bean Tree while they were under construction and we still love them. My oldest son is now in EP II and totally loves it, loves his Spanish class, computer class, art class, the playground and definitely water park! In fact, he cried yesterday because he didn't want to go home. ;-) My youngest is now in Young Toddlers and he seems happy too (can't really talk, but he's always smiling). Definitely worth the cost--worth the peace of mind!!

 

Hi, I don't know if anyone is following this thread anymore, but I'm considering applying to work at BeanTree, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the management there (here in Ashburn). I am working on getting my Early Childhood Development degree, but a look at the center's website showed that they have positions that do not require a college degree. I'm mostly concerned with how staff are treated (as far as anyone knows)-- there aren't very many bad reviews that I've seen, but a lot of the bad ones talk about employees being treated badly in front of parents, which is making me nervous. I'd like to know what anyone thinks before committing to an interview.
