How long with a couple of potty and one meal stop, does it take to get from here to Myrtle Beach? MQ and the GPS tell us about 7.5 hours or so, but that doesn't figure for traffic. We have a Sunday check in. How is the traffic down this time of year before most kids are out of school?

7 to 7.5 is about right with a few stops and doing mostly the speed limit.

If 95 South is bad, you better plan on 10 hours. Saturday's are the worst.

I did it last summer. Took 10 hours with traffic and stops. My kids were 5 and 3.

Wow, 10 hours! In 10 hours you could go to the beach in MAINE. In 10 hours you could go to Canada by way of Detroit! It must be wonderful at Myrtle Beach!

Um... ok.... Canada and Maine are cold. Myrtle Beach is hot and from what I understand is a good place for little kids. My first time there.

I've done the drive in 7 1/2 hours- speeding- with no children.
With kids and time to stretch, taking our time with 2 little ones - 11 hours.
We probably could have done 9 hours with the kids but took long playground breaks and explored a bit on our way down since they would be sleeping one way or another when we got there- might as well enjoy our day.
You should go into Murrell's Inlet for dinner while you are there- Drunken Jack's, Oliver's, Nance's. They have the best food!
In Myrtle Beach a great restaurant for kids is Thorny's. Dick's Last Resort can be kind of fun with the kids (if they are okay with friendly insults).
There is a cool laser tag place, wax museum, REALLY scary haunted houses (if they are little i wouldn't even take them on the haunted ride at the amusement park- its scary!).
Bikers love Myrtle Beach- so the kids always have lots of fun checking out all of the awesome motorcycles.
My favorite places to stay are Pawleys Island and Litchfield Beach (north), but it sounds like you already have a plcae. Have fun!

We've made it there in 7-8 hours with 2 quick stops. (We make it to the FL/GA border in 10 hours). I-95 traffic should be fine until school gets out---esp if you can travel on weekdays? We usually try and travel on weekdays when possible and wait to leave Ashburn after 9am though, and you can be in Myrtle Beach for dinner. Enjoy!

Keep in mind the NC and SC kids are already out of school....traffic will be bad on the weekends especially.

Route 501 coming into the beach can backup as far out as Conway (20 miles from the beach) so you may want to take Route 22 (just past Aynor) to Route 31, to Grissom Parkway to get to the beach.

It's pretty simple. If the ocean is to your right.....you're going north. If it's on your left....you're going south.....lol

It also depends on where in Myrtle you are. Travel wise, there is a BIG difference between North Myrtle and the rest. We just did it at spring break 7.5 to 8 hours down and back. No major stops...just potty, gas and pick up subway kind of stops.

We go every summer, I highly recommend leaving at 5 a.m. You will be in Myrtle at noon or before. You beat all the No. VA traffic on the beltway, and are ahead of traffic into Myrtle. You probably can't check-in until 3pm, but there is plenty of stuff to do. Also the water parks etc, aren't as crowded on Sundays, so go straight to a water park for a half-day pass, they all have changing facilities. Have fun!!
