Well... this certainly explains why it seems like ownership has cut bait... they have.

Not sure how having a spotty product and ignoring the customer base will help them sell the place any faster... if I was buying, the first things I'd examine are the sales receipts and trends (must be in decline), cost of goods (Wonder how much cost they save by not stocking donuts), and in this day and age, I'd look for local forums like this one to see what people really think of the place.

This place has obviously been mismanaged... if I was DD corporate, I certainly wouldn't be happy if I happened to be doing a franchise tour and found this nonsense hurting the corporate brand image.

Hopefully this will get resolved quickly. Hopefully someone (with financing) will see this place and realize the potential instead of see the damage that has been done. Hopefully we'll find someone who wants to be here in the community, run the place right and up to the standards of most DD I've ever visited. Hopefully is gets resolved and doesn't force our location as well as the Sterling locations to close down.

Hasta la bye bye Jimmy... we hardly knew thee...

Here's an example of how things are going at DD:

About a month ago our MOMS Club contacted them about donating coffee and donuts for our preschool forum event. They agreed to donate - great!

Last night we contacted them to double check that we were good to go and they said we were. This morning when we show up to pick up the donation they say they forgot. They didn't have enough boxes of coffee so they had to have someone bring some from their Sterling location. So their donation was about an hour behind schedule for us.

It worked out okay but still, that seems to be a good example of how their business is currently being run.

I have been in this store 7 times for Rainbow Sherbet from BR... over the last 4 months. I was told it has been out of stock CONTINUOSLY since August.... this a BR flagship flavor... it's in the ads... EVEN THE ONES in the store.

The last two times, I have gone around 6 pm to grab donuts for the morning on my way to get Carryout from Opera. And they have had maybe 12 donuts in the entire store. I for one find it ridiculous.

Stopped by our local DD after Mass this morning. They had a pretty good donut selection, but our selections were not that fresh; although, stale would be exaggerating. They were fairly busy, but I could not believe they only shoveled the sidewalk immediately in front of the entrance. The only parking space available was and the end of the building closest to Waxpool. I had a guy filling our order and a woman ringing it up. When asked if I wanted anything else, I responded, "You could shovel your sidewalk," which generated no response whatsoever. This tells me that customer safety is not a priority.

Funny how poor management works, isn't it? Training of employees and hiring motivated workers is important.

    Pirate,

The not extremely fresh and not stale is the basic DDonut. That is the taste experienced multi state. Yes they can be more fresh, but maybe their priority is again, not the customer. The priority seems to be product longevity.

When I heard they were opening a few years ago, I was excited. Being it took so look to open.... I've yet to go there. Go figure!! I heard that the service was bad and that they were always out of the favorites.

If you had a high end product to sell (like a franchise), wouldn't you try and make sure it is running well so potential buyers could see its value to the surrounding community? I guess not everyone thinks that way, unfortunately.

Anyone heard anything new regarding the sales status? I'm hoping it gets sold by the summer so new ownership can come in and fix all that's wrong with this place.

I don't know anything about the status of DD but I just came across an advertisement for the Ashburn location of Milwaukee Frozen Custard advertising "Wacky Al's Hot Donuts - made hot and fresh for you."

I'd seen that they were selling donuts and coffee but this is the first I've seen of a name for it. Never tried them so can't say if they're good but someone should check it out since our local DD seems to be disappointing.

Milwaukee Frozen Custard is in the Ashbrook Commons shopping center on Ashburn Village Blvd. and Route 7 where Harris Teeter/Home Goods/AC Moore is.

** I found the ad while looking for a pizza coupon. Am I an advocate of healthy food or what???!!!

I saw the ad for these donuts and decided to go give them a try. I had my heart set on some yummyness but once I went in and saw the varieties, I had my doubts. I was expecting Krispy Kreme-esque and that is not what I saw. I reluctantly ordered and gave them a shot. These were the best donuts I have ever eaten! I might need one now for dessert...
