That still seems kind of high. $215 and a ten dollar bill will buy nine months membership at World Gym and you can go any time you want for as long as you want, not to mention they have quite a few classes included with membership.

I hate to be a stick in the mud but doesn't this post violate the no spam rule?

    hberg,

The type of yoga is a fitness yoga that is great for beginners and those completely new to yoga. It isn't an advanced class or a "power yoga" , although many of the moves can easily be modified to fit that criteria.

You can pick up a yoga mat at Target, Walmart, or even Kohl's.
Email me directly and I can send you the registration forms.

    OPDude,
I don't think this qualifies as spam since I've seen many posts about items for sale. I didn't mean to offend anyone with the post, I just wanted people to know about their local options for fitness classes. Many people pass by us in the morning and ask what it is that we are doing, so I thought this would be a good way to spread the word!

Feel free to email me directly with any other questions or concerns.

Thanks and have a healthy day!

    :) Lisa

I just wanted to say, that I've been participating in the Broadlands Boot Camp for awhile now. It's awesome... Lisa does a great job. It's well run for any fitness level. Additionally, it's held at an ideal time and close to home so you can get a workout in before work.

As for the price, it's actually very very reasonable compared to other boot camps.

Lastly, it's a great way to get know others in the community.

    Lisa,
I don't think anyone was offended by the post. In fact I think it's a great program and considered signing up when I saw your ad in the newsletter but the difference between your post and the items for sale is that you are advertising a business. If this is allowed what's to stop accountants, realtors, attorneys, maid services, etc. from using the forums to promote their businesses?
Maybe I am just being too picky.:)
I wish you the best of luck.
Cheers and have a great holiday weekend!:D

Actually I'd be all for a separate forum where local businesses and services could advertise! I like to patronize local businesses within the community.

    OP_Dude,

I don't think this qualifies as SPAM either. People plug their personal items/business & such all the time. The forums are great for people to get their names out there & let the community know of events & such. I don't see much difference between her ads and the ads for Broadlands LIVE. Both are benefitial to the community and I probably wouldn't have heard of either of them if it weren't for the forums.

    JenTimC,
Broadlands Live is free. I must agree with OP_dude that I would consider such post as spam. OP_dude makes a good point.

I also agree with Carol that such post would be more appropriate under a heading such as "Market" ... which currently does not exist.

We (the tech committee who run the forums) decided it was not spam. We kill any clear spam messages right off the bat, but to be honest to date we have only had to do that a total of 3 times. We brought up at one of our last meeting if its was 'ok to advertise here if they advertise in our newsletter' but I think we were going to ask the HOA board about that. We'll bring it up at our next meeting. :)

The ironic thing is I actually agree with that. I favor promoting and supporting local community businesses and our community website is a perfect medium for this but the forum rules state.

"4. No posting of advertisements of commercial services by any company unless directly approved by the Technology Committee.
If you want to advertise your company, please see our website and contact us for ad space. We will not tolerate commercial spam on these message boards and violation of this will result in both the message and account name being deleted without warning. Please note that it is fine for residents to speak out about a company - this we encourage."

The rules must apply to everyone equally. Allowing one business to advertise for free but charging another to do the same opens an enormous can of worms.
Local residents can advertise their business/services in our local newsletter at reduced rates. Perhaps a link can be added on the website to a listing of these companies.
    Cheers
