So, I've tried mounting my flag pole to the mortar between my brick, TWICE, but it's blown off. I then tried to mount it to the "wood" around my door. Come to find out, it's not "wood". How do I mount this freakin thing to my house? I went to Home Depot today and the guy, although very nice, had no real answer for me. Anyone?

The problem is you are attacking the mortar - go for the brick. You'll need a stone bit for your drill & they make specialized anchors for "stone" and brick - they are metal and usually come in blister packs of three or four. Try that out.

Also - if push comes to shove it's perfectly OK to drape your flag out a window, lying flat against your house. Just make certain that the filed (or Union) is to the left as you approach your house.

Excuse me, mah deeya Lady. But if the only way ah proper Southern Gentleman can show his distaste for the current state of affayahs brought on by th'Warh of Yankee Agression is by flying the Stahs & Bahs from his windows, then I see as Ah have no choice left to me in th'mattah!

Another idea is tapcon screws, they're designed to tap into brick and concrete. May be a bit overkill, but it should hold. Tapcon sells a kit with a drill bit and screws (even using tapcon screws you still need a pilot hole).

The problem is that the holes in the mount aren't large enough for the screws. We tried that. Home Depot guy said that if we made the holes bigger on the mount to accommodate the screws then we're weakening the mount. But it's worth a shot.

Yeh, then try the concrete anchors like Kaosdad mentioned a few posts ago. I've used those with success before.

Or if you want to use tapcon screws, get some washers to reinforce the holes in the mount. Pass the screw throung the washer, then through the mount. Washers ought to help support the mount if you need to drill the holes larger.
