I have a wood church bench that has been in the family for 4 generations and it is in desperate need of being stripped of layers of paint and stain. It's only value is sentimental so I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for an antique refinisher to hand strip it. Back in the midwest, I knew someone who dipped furniture to clean the years of paint off. Does any one know of a place/person in the area who strips wood furniture by dipping it?

(I know the chemicals aren't the enviornmental way to go but I've counted at least 6 layers of oil based paint on top on the layers of stain and after multiple attempts to do it myself - there is no eco-friendly product and elbow grease even close to cutting it!)

    HIGHLY recommend...Restorations Unlimited in Sterling

    http://www.restorationsunlimited.com/

We have an heirloom high chair that had layers up layers of lead paint/stain etc...they did a fantastic job of restoring this piece.

I also had them restore a rare/limited production circa 1904 Kindel Dining Room table and they brought this table back to life.

They are pricey but worth every penny.
