My original GE over-the-range microwave crapped out a couple weeks ago. I have a beautiful new microwave installed and the old one is going out in the trash later this week.

However, I thought someone might be able to use some of the parts. The glass turntable, circular roller thing, light bulb, fan grease filter etc are all in great shape.

So, if you chipped or broke your glass tray, or want any of these other parts, please send me a PM before Thursday's trash pick up.

The magnetron died (we're pretty sure)... so if you want the whole thing to repair, you can have it. I think a new part runs about $110 - probably not worth it, though it's in pretty darn good shape otherwise.

If I can free-cycle a few bits of it, I have a little less guilt.

It's the one Ryan installed when they built our house in 1999. It's a GE JVM1650. Hasn't made it to the curb yet... though I have no idea how to get the lightbulb out/in. You're welcome to cart it home and have at it.

Hmmm...i did a little looking and it looks like it's a real pain to get it out of mine. Since yours is from '99...with my luck, it'll last a week and then go out and i'll get stuck doing it twice. i had no idea these bulbs were only 5 bucks...i guess i'll spend the big bucks and get a new one. Thanks though :)

Can you tell us what brand / model you bought to replace the old GE microwave ?
I'm thinking about changing mind and I would love to use the same bracket that already exists to mount the new microwave ( less work ).

Wondering if you were able to use the same mount bracket that was used to hold up old GE microwave.

    thank you.
