Do I need to delete what's on my computer first, or will this just wipe that out and put new, fresh software on?

...I'm glad I live in the Village!

Good luck with it all. Personally, I have and like the TrendMicro virus/firewall package.

It probably would be okay either way but I would just uninstall it, reboot, run the spyware/virusware/etc. and then install the new one.

 I think I may have speared the beast. I went to uninstall Firefox (which I did) and decided to look through that list to see whatelse was there. I saw something called "NSIS Media somethingorother" HHHMMMM... connection, methinks. So I deleted that "program" too. We'll see if that takes care of the problem.

 to all of my smart friends here!!!

there are some pop-unders that elude Firefox still, but its decent. and of course there are more extensions you can add to be a lot more aggressive.

if you are getting these pop-ups regardless of what page you are visiting, you probably have a trojan of sorts installed and I'd recommend running ad-aware and spybot to clear out any cling-ons you got there :)

Thanks guys (and gals)... I just did what Steve suggested too, and it's been a good 10 minutes without a pop up! I'm hopeful that we killed that little bugger. woohoo!!!
