Re: Neglected in Southern Walk - Unruly Grass

Cliff - I just forwarded you several emails I sent to the HOA dated back to 06, 07 & 08 about the HLS issues.

Please follow up off-line, I have an appointment with the neuro/spine surgeon and we will be gone for several hours.

This tangent has been moved into it's own thread.

There is no need for the personal attacks and the nastiness. If you don't like the post or the content - SKIP IT! These types of pile-ons do nothing but escalate the situation. So here is the warning to all - discuss the topic, not the poster.

    lilpea-
Thank you for the two emails sent to the HOA, 10/06 and 02/07 about the aeration issue.
I believe in your previous post you stated that you did get a response from the HOA about it. It was looked into, and was reported as being done. Since these emails are about the Fall 06 seeding/aeration, I'll assume that you also do not believe it was done in 07 or 08 either.
As I mentioned to Dwayne, I will follow up on this.
Was the sign HLS put up on your street? If so, it seems strange they would remember to put up a sign but forget to do the work.

Your post also mentioned several calls/emails about the Common Area behind you. Do you have any of those emails? If not, as I said before, please provide something in writing to the Board so that it can look into it.

    pea-
Received your third email dated 11/08 about the aeration issue, thank you.
I am looking into whether the emails were received and/or responded to.
Thanks for these, I didn't think they existed, but they do. Makes it much easier to follow up on.

I understand the one Dwayne wrote has been responded to recently.

At this point, these issues are being handled off-line via normal HOA channels. I would ask that any further discussions revolving around the actual dealing with these issues be taken offline and only 'informative' information be posted here. We're getting into a situation where information on this issue is coming in from emails, telephone calls, forum postings, etc. We need to centralize this in order to avoid confusion and get this situation resolved.

    Thanks!

    An 'informative' post:

About a month ago, HLS did a terrible job of cutting the lawn and leaving huge clumps of grass all over the lawn without picking up trimmings:

    http://picasaweb.google.com/corourke82/Spring2009#

We called the HOA and after a few interactions, HLS did an excellent job last time of using mowers that picked up the clippings. There were at least 2-3 bags full in front of each home when I came home from lunch last week.

It raises the question...do they have the capacity to pick up clippings or not depending on their mood/complaints about the property or do they have different machinery?

Our lawn looked awesome this weekend after they bagged the clippings.

When the grass gets very long due to the rain, they pick up the clippings because it is too much to leave behind. I saw them with literally trucks full of clippings this spring.
It is an exception and not something normally done.
HLS is stuck between a rock and a hard place this spring. Every one wants their lawn cut, but the weather has been less than cooperative this spring. So, they continue to mow, even when it's wet, to try and keep up.

Cliff...isn't picking up/managing grass clippings part of regular grass and lawn service? I do not see a correlation between the weather and their inability to pick up the clippings.

When they mowed my lawn two times earlier this year, they paid no attention to the chunks they left behind. It wasn't until I called the HOA multiple times that it was addressed.

Clippings are much more difficult to get up when they are wet.

Very true, HLS usually uses a blower and then collects them. If the clippings are wet & clumped together, I'm not sure how they collect them.

The issue we had I think was a one off and blip - 4 1/2 years of service and this was the 1st time we had issues posted in the pictures..

A couple of days ago I noticed something that struck me as odd. It was raining, and I heard the sound of the blowers.. and I looked out the window to see two HLS folks running their air blowers and sweeping the streets with it, which basically had rain water flowing. There is no way they could have been able to blow the grass, seemed to me like they were just helping the water on the street, I wasnt quite sure what they were doing, seemed a waste of energy and effort.
