    Hello!

We are looking at building a single family in the Broadlands/Southern Walk. I found this site while browsing broadlands.org and I thought I would see if I could find out what people think of living here. I've read some of the recent messages and there seems to be a lot going on. I'd love to hear the good, bad, and otherwise.

    Thanks, Shiara

    Hi Shiara-
I have lived in Broadlands for 6 1/2 years and love it here. In fact, I'm in my second home in Broadlands. I know of many others that have also moved from one home to another within Broadlands and others who lived here, moved out of state, and moved back to Broadlands when they returned to this area. I think that speaks well for our community. Stop by the Nature Center and visit our HOA office. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
I am one of the resident members of the Broadlands Homeowners Association. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. 703-729-7320, shevcoo@yahoo.com

If you read these forums, you probably realize that some topics get heated discussion, but the common thread through most issues is that people want what they believe to be the best for the community.

    Shiara,

I have lived in Broadlands for 7+ years. Earlier this year we sold our house in the Broadlands North section and built another one in Southern Walk. We love it here and to be honest if we ever leave Broadlands it will be to move out of the area. There is no other development in the area that compares to this one (in my opinion).

Love it. I've lived here close to 3 years now. Our neighborhood is super friendly. It's lovely to have TREES around. The Nature Center and HOA sponsor lots of fun and interesting events for everyone. Great playgrounds, great pools, great place to live.

Have lived here for allmost three years and am very happy. Have lived in Boston, Pittsburgh and San Jose and plan to stay here. My neighborhood doesn't have many people from VA, so it's hard to say "this is how people here are", but in general, the type of neighbors that smile and say hello. The water is safe and shopping getting more convenient. :)

We love it here. We have been here for just over a year, and we have nothing but nice things to say. We have friends who just moved into a lovely new home in Southern Walk, and they are equally pleased.

I will share this to correct one common misperception about the Broadlands. The Broadlands is diverse. Having lived in the Clarendon/Courthouse area of Arlington, we were initially concerned that there would be little diversity. However, we have a lot of diversity. There are quite a few different cultures, races, family types, etc. That is something that we truly value. Also, we know all of our immediate neighbors, and they are all great people.

I have one recommendation for you: come and walk around some of the Broadlands neighborhoods. That is what we did, and it really made the decision easy.

We're living in the Southern Walk apartments while having our house built around the corner and we love it.

Shiara - we have lived her for over 7 years and just recently sold our townhome and bought a single-family in Southern Walk. We looked at many communities for our single-family house but decided that The Broadlands were just to nice to leave. Sure, there are a few minor issues but what community doesn't have them.
