And two of them will drop in the rankings once they all play each other.

Kansas plays Missouri and the winner will face Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship.

Yes, I meant more specifically that I hope Kansas is one of the two losers.

Works for me. All I care is that 2 of those 3 teams will lose which will help the Buckeyes chances (as slim as they are) to play for the national championship.

Why would you assume another blowout? Certainly the Gators were the better team THAT night but who knows what a 51 day layoff will do to a team. Florida had a chip on their shoulders and the Buckeyes "assumed" they would cake-walk. If the Buckeyes had made the NC game this year I truly doubt that they would over-look ANY team regardless of rankings.

I have watched a few LSU games this year and at times they look dominant but quite often they have looked very beatable (as has pretty much every team this year). The SEC conference is suppose to be known for its' defense this year but I notice a TON of shootouts. I also do not buy into the SEC "we are a strong conference because we beat each other up". When other conferences do the same, it is because they are weak.

Trying to compare conferences is a waste of time in my opinion. They RARELY play each other and when they do it is mostly in the beginning of the year when teams are quite often still trying to figure out their identities.

PLEASE!!!! All the teams you mentioned have lost to very mediocre teams.
LSU is lucky to not have 2-3 losses, Florida DOES have 3 losses (1 to Auburn AT HOME), Georgia has lost to South Carolina (ummm, who has lost 4 in a row) and Tennessee (plays great 1 week and the awful the next), and Auburn has 4 losses (1 to an overrated USF AT HOME, and to Miss St.)

The reason that you have 3 Big 12 teams in the top 5 is due to the conference makeup and teams not playing "certain" other teams. Kansas, in the EXTREMELY weak Big 12-North does not play Texas or Oklahoma, 2 teams that would "traditionally" crush them and they do not play Mizzou until the 24th. Same with Mizzou except they did lose to Oklahoma.

I highly doubt that there will be any undefeated teams this year, then the battle is who is the better 1 loss (or 2???) teams? Which I think is a joke trying to determine.

I agree that a playoff is needed , take the top 8 teams and let the fighting over who gets in at the 7-8 spots take place... AT LEAST you know you would have the top 4-6 teams playing. OR goe back to the traditional bowl matchups and say the hell with the "mythical" national championship.

They still have to play at decent Nevada with an injured Brennan, then host a strong/resurgent Boise State and then Washington.

If Brennan is truly hurt to a point where he struggles, then Hawaai struggles.

I was all for an Ohio State - Michigan rematch for the BCS title last year, but when I watched Florida dismantle Ohio State in the BCS Title game and USC hammer Michigan in the Rose Bowl it seemed apparent that the Big 10 was playing a couple of speeds slower than the SEC/Pac-10. From what I have seen, Ohio State had a better team last year (with Troy Smith at QB) than they do this year -- as a result, my assumption is that they would have been blown out again if they made the BCS title game and played either Oregon or LSU (if they were fortunate enough to catch a Big 12 team in the title game, I think they would have had a great chance). And as for the 51 day layoff (which I think is a bit of a lame excuse -- all of the BCS teams are off for at least 30 - 40 days), the same would apply this year if they made the BCS title game.

I'm not an Ohio State hater (to the contrary, I was hoping that they would beat Florida last year), I'm just a college football fan who wants to see a good title game.

Sadly my Dawgs haven't been a threat for more years than I care to admit.

Ohio State would certainly jump ahead of either Oklahoma or Missouri if they lose however if Kansas beats #5 Missouri and then just loses to #4 Oklahoma then I would not be surprised if they stay ranked higher than Ohio State thanks to strength of schedule points. Michigan hasn't been very helpful in that regard this year. I think the best case would be for Missouri to beat Kansas.

I seem to remember a VASTLY "slower" team beat Miami several years back. ;)

Agree, I was hoping for UM to beat Wis for just this reason.

If Kansas loses it will also depend if it is a "bad" loss. Say they get blownout, they would probably drop farther than most "high-profile" teams in the human poll

The Buckeyes lost in a competitive game with a bad non-fumble call on Illinois 2nd play from scrimmage.

I remember the game well, I was very happy with the outcome (though I think some Miami fans are probably still bitter about an interference call in OT). Ohio State did have a dynamic freshman RB by the name of Clarett at the time -- I don't see a Clarett on the current team.

My main reason wanting UM to do well this year is to help prevent any coaching changes. Les Miles has a specific "if Michigan spot opens" buyout clause in his contract that I'd hate to see exercised. Hopefully even if the spot opens Les will sit tight right where he is but who knows.

I didn't see the non-fumble call, but I did watch much of the second half. Ohio State simply could not stop Illinois when they needed to -- it was a bad result for a team playing at home and hoping to play for a National Title.

I hope he stays at LSU, but I would bet that he bolts for Michigan if/when the job opens up.

Hopefully the situation would just end up with LSU offering Les a nice raise and he'd opt for sticking with a good thing over chasing his dream. In any case there is too much football to be played in the near term to put any real thought into next year's situation.

Oh, T8er, this is weak--you're above this! :)

You can't seriously blame OSU's loss on this play, can you? Yes, it was a blown call, but us fans watching at home saw the replay and knew it was a missed call before the next play was run. How come OSU's coaches didn't see the same thing and challenge the call?

Besides, as you mentioned, it was Illinois' 2nd play from scrimmage--there was still 58+ minutes of football left to play and the blown call resulted in a tie game (which OSU un-tied 4 minutes later). You can't possibly use that call as an excuse...
