Perhaps I missed it on another thread, but does anybody have an idea what is being built on the left side of Truro Parish, near Belmont Ridge? They seem to be clearing trees and other site work. I believe at one time there was talk of a YMCA but that fell through.

A dozen or so single family homes. The land for the Rec Center is still there.

Thanks for the information. It amazes me that despite all the dire housing news we hear about on TV or the newspaper, lots of new houses are still apparently being build and sold, not only here in Broadlands, but also in Brambleton and Goose Creek Village. (Drove by there today - lots and lots of new townhomes)

Exactly what I was thinking when my wife and I drove past the land clearing in Broadlands. Where are people gonna find the money/jobs to be able to buy these places?

I heard that Fairfax County and other counties closer to DC are doing MUCH better than Loudoun buying-wise. Not as many people are moving out here when the house prices are lower in the other counties. Consider this: when many people retire and move away, people will snap up these properties. Not a lot want to stay here after retirement when taxes/traffic is still a pain in the arse!

I was so sad to see those trees cleared. I almost missed the turn the other day because I didn't recognize the corner. One of the reasons I agreed to move here when my husband was searching for places for us to relocate to, was that there were so many trees and nature here. Might be time to head even farther west!

Most of Broadlands was heavily wooded.......no tree clearing, no Broadlands!

    - saved for years to buy a home
    - moving from a higher priced location
    - sale of their own property
    - promoted at work and now able to buy a home
    - inheritance from a rich relative
    - stock investment cash in
    - got rid of all debt and now can afford a mortgage

there's a ton of ways to have money to buy a house...

Not enitrely true. Loudoun County and Prince William each had more than twice the number of new home sales in 2010 when compared to Fairfax County. Of course the number of new homes availble in Fairfax County is much less, but the nonetheless, Loudoun County is still a very desirable place to live. Please explain to me which County in Virginia closer to DC has lower sale prices than Loudoun?
