Has anyone tried those small solar powered lights? Are they worth the $. How long does the rechargeable battery last before it needs replacement? Do they need direct sunlight or is daylight sufficient to recharge?

My neighbors have it, and so far I think they have been working great...

My only question will be how these lights will fare during winters when there isn't enough sunlight?

I have observed that the "lantern" type solars - not meant to project light ala a spotlight, are very weak. I ordered a single "spotlight" type to see how it worked. I placed it beneath a multi-trunk small tree ponted up, and got about two feet of vertical light, illuminating the trunks. It was not enough to reach the limbs/leaves about three to four feet off the ground. And of course, the light is white - not so warm. This light was advertised as a "powerful" spotlight for outdoor use.

I would not recommend it and don't plan to get any more of them.
