Over the years, I've been sharpening our lawnmower blade myself. Not a great job, but good enough to get us through the season. I'm thinking I should probably get it 'professionally' sharpened now. Any recommendations on who around here sharpens lawnmower blades at a good price?

And that begs the question - is it worth sharpening, or should I just buy a new one? Do new blades come pre-sharpened?

    Thanks in advance!

When I was faced with this... I just bought a new blade at HD or Sears. They are on the scale of like $20 - you won't get a manual labor job like sharpening for that.

Folks in the neighborhood seem to like Sterling Mower Repair. If you carry your blade in, they sharpen it for $8. If they have to take it off the mower for you, it is $12. I sharpen my own as well and haven't been there.

Sterling mower is great! Very friendly and helpful folks. I carried my mulching blade in (during off season), they sharpened it while I waited for $8
